Yet another newbie!

Hi Everyone - I just found your site and it looks like a nice place to hang out. We have a 4 month old Brittany named Whiskey. He adopted us back in January and we love him to death. Before Whiskey came along, we had a wonderful chocolate lab who was with our family for 14 wonderful years before going off to chase rabbits in the sky. I had forgotten how much work a puppy could be if you want to do it right, so I thought this forum would be a great place for ideas and advise!

Oh my gosh, Whiskey is adorable! We have a few friend with Brittanys. I've always been taking with how loving and gentle the breed is. Welcome to our little "family"!

Thanks! We have never had a Brittany before but did quite a bit of research on the breed. I couldn't bring myself to get another lab after losing our beloved Kodi, but we wanted a sporting dog that likes to swim! He has a lot of energy, but it has gotten me back into a regular walking routine which is great for both of us!

Welcome! What a cutie!

Puppies are work, just like you said, if you want to do it right. The rewards are so worth it - a happy balanced dog!

Welcome! Whisky is a cutie for sure. If I had to get a sporting breed it would be a Brittany or an English Springer. Give him some belly rubs from me.

You can call me Erin, cairnterriers, or even Smitty if you want (that's what my friends call me).

Thanks so much, Erin - and everyone - for the warm welcomes! You seem like a great group of folks on this board, so I'm happy to be here.

Yes, we are sporting dog types, although we are not hunters, we are water bugs (boating) and want a good companion dog. Our lab was such an avid swimmer in his younger days, you couldn't get him off the boat! We read the Brittanys are also water dogs, but with their smaller size, he was just what we were looking for. Now if only summer would come!!!
