Awwww, just couldnt help but say Hi to "Bear's" mommy.  I have a 3yr old Rottie, Shadow.  Our first Rottie was "Bear".  He blessed us with 8 wonderful years.   It was so sad when we lost him, then we found Shadow and he has filled our home with love and laughter.  You will find your rottie will be so loving and very good with your children.   We learned through our Bear all the things we should and shouldnt do with Shadow.  Because they are so big, I highly recommend obedience classes early.  Shadow went to class at 3 months old.  Made a big difference in the training for everything else.  Both our Rotties loved to have responsibilities.  Bear watched over our property, kept an eye on the kids, was "Big daddy" to our 2 other dogs, horsey to our grandchildren.   Shadow loves to play ball but knows we have chores first.   He picks up laundry, helps me feed the birds, helps me move limbs in the garden, I bought him a backpack so he can carry water and my garden tools. It has been 2 weeks and he has taken to it very well.    All these things were so easy with very few repetitions but the early obedience was the key.  I find he responds to love more than treats, and he listens better if I make him have eye contact with me.   Well I could ramble on forever.....[:)] but I wont,  enjoy you new puppy!

P.S. Shadow was neutered at aprox 10 weeks I think, I highly recommend that too.
