    Death to Littermaid bwhahahaha!

Well, we finally killed the Littermaid box. This was the second one, and it got to a point where Brett (note *Brett* not me lol)  had to do something to the box everyday. So there was really no point of having it anymore. We now have a sifting pan, and we also learned that, for some unknown reason, the cats aren't pooping as much without an automatic box! I think they enjoyed going in the Littermaid just to make the stupid thing go off five times an hour. They're evil, evil cats, I say! lol

I have been meaning to ask about the auto boxes. I guess you didnt like yours? *l*

I have 3 cats so I have to have 2 litter boxes that need cleaned at least every other day. I was thinking about getting an automatic one. I have heard they grosser to clean out than a regular one.

Yeah I think my cats would probably be like yours & make it go off many times on purpose. I think all cats want to poo in a clean litter box, there is a line when I clean ours out [sm=lol.gif]

The box was okay when Charlie was our only cat, and it works great for Brett's grandma, who only has one cat that isn't obsessed with going to the bathroom. When we got Deuce, it was just too much for the box the handle. A friend of mine rescues cats, and she decided to try an automatic box in addition to the other boxes scattered throughout the house. Everyone decided the new box was cool, so before she knew it, the Littermaid was flinging poo across the room.[sm=rofl.gif]

Our first littermaid's motor died in no time. And both cats tend to kick everything to one side, and the stupid rake would get stuck constantly. When we got the second one, the cover for the waste recepticle wouldn't close. We even superglued washers to it to add enough weight to keep the lid closed. That didn't work either. Then it just got to a point where Brett was always messing with it, and it became more trouble than anything else. So we got a box with a sifter thingy, and that seems to be working well.

I think an automatic box *can* work, but you have to have just one cat who doens't live for setting off the box every 10 minutes. lol

I had one that lived for a few years.  The motor died too.  I was even looking into replacing the motor but I'm not that into electronics.

I have dreamed of getting one.. but with 7 cats.. I'll just remain the litter scooper! Mine already poop like crazy fools, and I'm sure it's the Purina food but they won't eat anything else. When I try to switch their food they go on a hunger strike and I end up wasting money.

Charlie is like that! If I try to change his food or if he gets stressed (like taking him out of his environment), he stops eating, fills up with gas, and literally becomes a walking fart. Then I have to force feed him antibiotics, which is bright red, and of course he flings that all over me, himself, the wall, and whatever or whoever else is nearby. I almost dred moving because he'll have to be in a car for five hours then have to be kenneled for a couple of days. I'll have to live at the kennels just to shove him with medicine and ham, since he can usually be bribed with that. We've had him since he was 10 weeks old, and that cat still won't eat anything but Pro Plan Chicken and Rice. I'd love to know what his eating habits at the shelter because I don't think they catered to his finicky butt. So I picked up a 1.5 lb. bag of Chicken Soup to try, hoping he'll like it. It was only 2.99, so I figured it'd be the least expensive of things I've thrown away because of him. lol If anything, I know Deuce will eat it. He inhales everything he can get his hands on...

    Speaking of...

A few days ago, I noticed my guinea pigs' bowls of pellets were empty quickly. They really don't eat a lot of pellets because I give them so much hay and fresh veggies. So I'm like, what's going on here. Tonight, I'm working on some stuff in my office, and I hear *something* eating, and it definitely wasn't a guinea pig. I caught Deuce in the girls' cage, chowing down on Oxbow Cavy Cuisine. No wonder he's always in here!![sm=smack.gif]

LOL!!! What a silly cat! Cats will do the craziest things I swear, but life isn't complete without them.

I caught one of mine doing something crazy tonight. She usually hangs out on top the kitchen cabinets, and when I am cooking something she gets down from there and sits on top the fridge next to the counter where I cook. Tonight I had more bowls than usual on that part of the counter and I didn't even notice she had gotten down until I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye on the opposite side of the fridge. She was up under the cupboard over the stove, balancing on that little section of the back of the stove the knobs and stuff are on. Crazy cat!

I've caught Charlie doing that before. His obsession with the stove is the reason he always has short whiskers. lol
