Chicken soup?

    Chicken soup?

I am in the process of finding a better dry kibble for my two cats ages 4 and 5.  We were eating science diet sensitive stomach, but miss sensitive stomach is vomiting again.  I started by mixing sd with chicken soup for the cat lovers soul.  The ingredient list looked best to me.  I looked at Felidae, Innova and Eukunaba and this one said "chicken" not "chicken meal" and it was cheaper, and DH liked that, so that's what we decided to try first.  Right now, I am not sure if they're eating it or not.  They "free feed" and I mixed it, so I won't be able to tell for a day or so which pieces are being eaten from the bowl.
Now I checked and it's made by Diamond.  Is that bad? I know they had problems with contaminated corn, right? What should I be doing?

I had a similar problem. Charlie is an insanely picky eater, and Deuce is a pig. He'll eat anything, but I've fought with Charlie for two years to get him to eat a food he'd like. The local co-op started carrying Chicken Soup, and I tried it out. They also free feed so I wasn't sure if they were eating it at first since it was mixed, but it seemed they were eating it. Then the whole Diamond incident came up, and I stopped with Chicken Soup until I can figure out something else. So for now, I have to wait until I can find another good food. Fortunately, I'll have more options when I move in a couple of weeks.

we have been going through the same thing with our cats. our two cats are slightly older than your, but one of them has been throwing up a good bit lately. our other cat has liver and urinary tract problems, plus she is overweight. seeing as how they will only free feed and they have to eat the same food, we were trying to find a food that would cover as many of these as possible. we are now in the process of switching to chicken soup. my wife wouldnt even consider some of the more expensive choices, that is why we are trying that one. the cat with the weight problem eats it no problem, but we arent sure about the other cat. and like you i know it is made by diamond and that is a little scary. we have our dogs on blackwood and i looked at the blackwood cat food, but 2 of the top 4 ingredients were ground corn (2nd ingredient) and corn gluten meal (3rd ingredient). not sure why they do this with the cat food, the dog food isnt this way. so for now we are sticking with the CS.

They do seem to be eating the CS.  At least one of them is...
I read a little more about diamond and the problem seemed to be in the corn products.  This cat food doesn't appear to have corn in it.  Do you think that means it would be okay regardless?  I want to trust that that problem will NEVER happen again, but these are my furkids and I have to be safe!

I've been feeding Portia CS for about 3 months now and haven't had any problems.  She gets the adult light formula and is trimming down a bit I think for two reasons.  The first being that I was way overfeeding her on the other food she was getting and second, the ingredients are so much better that she's actually using the nutrients.  I wasn't too awful worried about the recall since it was before I started using it and as someone else mentioned, there is no corn in this product.  I can imagine that Diamond's QC is extremely careful right now; they certainly don't need anymore bad press. She'll be ten this month and this chair is her very favorite place to stalk the pup.

She looks like a great pup stalker!  CS has been going okay for us.  My kitty that has stomach issues has thrown up twice though, and DH says "TRY AGAIN."  We'll see...
