Pumpkin for kitty?

Christi Posted : 4/22/2006 11:12:00 AM Last week I found out (from here) that my kitty has been expressing his anal sacs when he is frustrated or upset.  On a doggy post, I found out that giving pumpkin to a dog can help them to express when they poop.  Can I give plain canned pumpkin to kitty so that they are expressed in the litter box and not my coffee table?  If so, how much should I feed? • marynh Posted : 4/22/2006 7:25:20 PM approx. a teaspoon mixed into canned food - if the cat will eat it that way. One of my former fosters had a problem with hard stools. Her adopter's vet suggested a teaspoon of plain canned pumpkin every day mixed with wet food - Cleo didn't like wet food which is probably why she had problems. Now Cleo eats 3 teaspoons of canned a day with her pumpkin added - and actually won't eat it unless the pumpkin is in there - and the hard stools softened up some. So I would try that.
