Stray cats

    Stray cats

There are about 4 cats that roam the neighborhood.  One of which i know has a home but the other 3 i have no idea.  I was taking the trash out today and one came up to me.  I bent down to pet her and she back away a little bit well she was eating a can of dog food out of one of my other bags.  I brought her out some cat food i had from a cat i was caring for before.  When she calmed down some i started to pet her.  Her stomach looks descended and was sensitive when i touched it.  I've only had one cat in the past and have only dogs now.  Could she be pregnant or something way more serious?

she could be pregnant, or wet FIP will do that too. Either way if at all possible you should get her into a shelter. She shouldn't have her babies outside and a shelter can probably get them adopted out. Or if she has wet FIP she'll die a slow painful death left unattended....better she be PTS
or perhaps a bad bad case of parasites

I would scoop her up and take her to a shelter.  Tell them what you know about her and they should be able to give her the care she needs, and if she is pregnant, they can take care of the kittens and get them homes.

Be careful she doesn't bite you since she has been a stray and out in the streets for a while.  Don't be scared of her, but just be cautious.

She was outside crying a few days ago but i couldn't find her I'm sure my barking dogs scared her off.  This woman moved in next door about the time the cat showed up should i ask around before i just take her to the shelter. Even though she shouldn't be outside all the time in the city.  If it wasn't for my dogs great recall they would have ended up hit by a car once before.  I spoke to the owner of one of them and their response was she is happier outside and the wife has allergies.  I believe that cat is spayed though.  I really don't know about this one.  She seemed happy to have attention but if i moved to fast or touched her stomach she would jump back really fast.  Then just as I was walking back inside because the dogs were flipping out because I wasn't back inside yet another cat showed up and they walked off together.  It was cute but I feel bad for them having to live outside near a busy street and having to eat out of trash bags.

I know I'm not a big cat person.  I mean be around them just would rather own dogs but i can't stand to see an animal suffer like that.

Poor kitty. It's probably best if you did bring her to a shelter..at least she has a chance at getting adopted and having a good life.

A couple of years ago, I was in the Walmart parking lot waiting for Brett to come out of the store. So while I was waiting, I noticed something on a fence, but I couldn't figure out what it was. So I drove closer and realized it was a cat with a Cheetos bag stuck on its head!! I couldn't figure out how she climbed up the fence withe the bag on her head, but I knew it had to come off so I scruffed her as fast as I could and pulled her from the top of the fence. I then pulled off the bag, and I swear, the cat was suffocating. I brought her home and fed her, and she ate three cans of food. Poor thing. I hated to send her to the shelter, but I didn't know what else to do with her, so I talked to the shelter manager about her (they keep animals a long time at this shelter...Grey stayed there for months before we adopted him). A family later adopted her and kept the name Cheeto. lol

Please check out the policy of the shelter you take her to.  Some shelters have a policy of PTS any pregnant animal received due to lack of space & funds.  Not trying to bring you down just don't want you to find out the hard way.

Yea i was thinking about the no kill thing.  The shelter i lived near only put down animals that were suffering.  I think I will call and find out tomorrow.  I still have to see if i can catch her she seems very scared.
