    Horse Show

We had our first horse show of the season on Saturday. We weren't able to practice for it very much, because the horses all came down with colds (coughs and snotty noses), and by the time that cleared up, our weather turned cold and nasty. We were only able to ride for two days before the show!

But we had fun. I rode Ranger, and placed 1st in Reining, 3rd in Western Riding, and 4th in both Horsemanship and Western Pleasure. We didn't place in the timed events, but I didn't push Ranger for speed. Our main goal was survival (at least I didn't fall off!).

Stephanie did well with Sparkle. Her best placing was 3rd in Western Riding, and she got several 4ths and 5ths. She had her best run ever in the barrel race, although it wasn't fast enough to place.

I hate to say it, but I didn't deserve any of those ribbons! We weren't that good. I've had much better rides on Trixie and never placed at all. The only thing I can figure is that the judge REALLY liked Ranger!

    Yay!  Congratulations!  :)

Just testing to see if my avatar appears now....but it wouldn't let me use the photo I had before of my Cavalier puppy, it said the file was too large, funny, because it worked before.  Oh well.  I used a picture/painting of a Cavalier instead.....hope it works!

Anyone else having troubles on here or is it just me having a senior moment?!!

Well, quite obviuously THAT is NOT a Cavalier as my avatar....that didn't work either, but it DID use a photo of my horse!   [&:]

CONGRATULATIONS!!  Don't be silly!  Of course you deserved those ribbons! ... and of course they liked Ranger! [;)]  ... now all we need are a few photo's.............. ((not so subtle hint)

Remali, you were having a BLONDE senior moment. That's even worse.

We went to another horse show last Saturday. Ranger actually worked better (I used spurs this time!) but we didn't place as well. I guess this judge didn't like us, LOL! We did place second in Reining and fifth in Western Riding. That's the best we could do. Reining seems to be our best class; I wonder how we'd do if we actually practiced for it?!

Stephanie did real well with Sparkle. She come home with eight ribbons, mostly seconds and thirds. She likes it when she does better than I do.

The judge made the comment to me -- "That's a really big horse! Please don't fall off." How bad are you when even the judge is worried about you falling off?! LOL!

I think that it's not how "bad you are" but a reflection of how big Ranger IS!  ... he must be a big ol' horsey!  Then again, I haven't seen you ride [8D] (i couldn't resist)

Congratulations on all the ribbons you and Stephanie are collecting.  That must be so much fun and a great way to spend some quality time with your neice.  I share 'horses' as a hobby with a couple of my neices, but we are still so far away it makse it hard.  But,  at least it's something to chat about on the phone!

Go Shirley and Ranger... and get to praciticing on the reigning, I wanna see some more blue ribbons.  [;)] (BTW - i think it's hillarious you aren't even working on reigning and you're doing so well.. I wish more things in life were that way! [:);)

I think the reason we do well in reining is because I accidentally manage to get the patterns right. We may not do the maneuvers very well, but at least we do them in the right order!
