Sick as a dog... not sure what's wrong

Shannon, years ago when we lived in student housing I had a very fair, blond neighbor who fell asleep on the beach up at Tahoe. The sunburn she had was the worst thing I had ever seen. Her skin actually looked gray and was coming off in strips.  I had a nursing baby at the time, so I was well stocked with Masse cream (it's for sore nipples, but since it was safe for baby and had no perfumes or other stuff in it I figured it would be OK for sunburn) and the difference it made was incredible. I don't know if they still make it or not, but if they do, try to get some.  Feel better soon. [:)]

I am a freckled blonde and have suffered many sunburns and many blisters...one thing I use when I have a horrible sunburn and a lot of trapped heat is a vinegar and water solution.  I guess it is probably 50/50 but I would say the more vinegar you can stand to smell the better.  My aunt used this on my cousin and I one year at the beach when we both got burned really bad.  It may smell bad, but it will take a lot of heat out of your skin.  Just use cotton balls to apply it.  It feels good when applying as well since it is usually sort of cooling!

Funny thing... I just took a bath in vinegar and water. I decided to dump the whole bottle in there with me... I don't feel any different! Oh, and this bottle was huge, about a gallon or so.

I was told aloe vera, which I know that helps for a few minutes. Then Noxema, I haven't tried that yet, I'm getting two stories about it. Baking soda in a bath, but I don't want to take another one. So.... I guess it's aloe for now.

Be sure to take something like Tylenol or some kind of acetaminaphen, for the pain and fever of the burn. The vingar thing never really worked for me either.  The best thing I found is a sunburn spray with lidocaine, which kinda numbs the pain, and aloe vera for the skin.  I bought mine when we were on vacation at the Outer Banks and I burnt to a crisp on the first day at the beach.  But I'm geussing Walmart or your local drug store would have something like this in their display. If not ask the pharmacist to suggest something.  They can be very helpful. Hope you get some relief. [&o]

One of the two vinegars works and I can never remember if it's apple cider or white.  But it does need to be with cool water.  There is also a NICE aloe spray that RiteAid carries.  My blond son burns easily and he loves it.

I believe it is apple cider that works for me but I can't remember either.  If you put it in the tub it was probably too diluted.  I literally take a cotton ball and pretty much put pure vinegar on myself, other people prefer to dilute it a little b/c it has a pretty strong smell.  More than anything, it just helps to take the heat out.  Other's have made good suggestions for relief though as well.

My cousin swears by this each time she gets a bad burn,, but I refuse to do it.  Take a REALY hot shower.  I will burn like hell but is supposed to take the heat out permanently... it shouldnt come back again. ...?

I wont put myself through the initial pain, but she does it every time...
