The latest dog book I read was "Getting Lucky" by Susan Marino, owner/operator of Angel Animal Hospice. It'll get under your skin and in your heart.

I read tons of books! In my line of work, you MUST be a reader.

    Let's see:

Steinbeck, but especially Grapes of Wrath
assorted series by Mercedes Lackey (strong women are everywhere in these books!)
    Anne McCaffrey's dragon books
The Toby Peters series by Stewart Kaminsky
the Phryne Fisher series (very hard to find)
Antyhing by Bertrice Small .  She writes historical romances with  historical ACCURACY.  I have learned more English history from her books than I ever learned in school.  Warning: they are rated R.
The People's Guide to Mexico by Carl Franz and Lorena Higgins (I think that's her last name). It is very imformative and HILARIOUS!!
We Had Everything But Money--about the Great Depression
    Anything by Studs Terkel.
The Tightwad Gazette, vols. I, II. and III.
    Plus many, many more!
