I'm taking this as a sign that my beloved Rose is still with me. First of all, I don't know why it says I'm a "puppy" since I've been here the longest of anyone here - over 8 years - but oh well. Some of you may remember my white Saluki, Rose, even when she tragically died in 2002. Rose was a white "parti" with red ears and one red spot on her butt. She had to have a foot amputated when she initially became ill 3 years before she died, which never slowed her down by the way, and the day after she died, and I was sooooo devastated, an old poster from here, KMcD, one of my best friends in the world, who was on vacation in Florida at the time, happened upon an all white seagull on the beach with one foot who was trying to scratch his head with the stump, the same way Rose used to with her stump. All the other gulls had flown away, except this one, who kept trying to scratch his head and staring at KMcD. It creeped her out, then she knew that Rose had died. She firmly believes, as do I, that it was a message from Rose telling her that she was okay, and to let me know that she was okay and flying. If that wasn't enough....
Last year, I told the story of the white rose bush that was given to me by another old poster here, Elkhoundlover, in Rose's memory. I've had it since 2002 and it has always bloomed beautiful white tea roses. Last year, it looked like the rose was going to die. I tried, and I tried, to save that bush, since it's something tangible and pretty from that awful time. One day after work, I saw that it had bloomed one white rose, that is all it produced last year, but I took that as a sign that it was going to live. I also took it as another sign from Rose that things may not have looked so good, but they were going to be fine. As if THAT wasn't enough...
The rose bush is doing beautifully this year, so much so that it now has 2 RED BUDS ON IT!!!!!! There are 2 buds on the other side that I cannot tell what color they are, but who wants to bet that they will bloom white? I took a photo of the white rose last year and posted here, as I have again, and I now have the photo of the red buds. If this darn thing blooms both white and red, as Rose was white and red, how much more proof that I need that the little turkey is still talking to me? [sm=eek.gif]
