Must love Dogs - stupid, stupid, stupid

true, but wasn't Mother Theresa worth it? [:D]

I just saw "An Unfinished Life" - it was better than I expected, and the special feature on training the bear was cool.  It was neat to see them using positive reinforcement methods with Bart the Bear.  ('cause what are you going to do, use a choke collar on a bear?!)  The trainer would tell Bart to do something and then he'd say "Good bear! Good bear!" and give him whipped cream. LOL!

DH is not much for movies and I used to have friends to go with, but most of my movie buddies have moved or now have young kids and limited schedules.

Gotta weigh in on Walk the Line.  As a HUGE Cash fan, gotta say I very, very, very much liked the movie.  I think Joaquin's singing was credible enough to work and I would have hated and resented lip synching (some people I talked to said they could hardly tell it wasn't the man himself, but that's just plain nuts).  I had the great fortune to see Johnny and June and John Carter Cash probably on one of their last tours.  It was in Orchestra Hall in Mpls (astonishing acoustics) and just before Christmas (June made John wear a Santa hat for a while - a vividly surreal image) and his voice made me weep openly. It was so moving, I can't even describe it (especially when he sang Silent Night a capella). And I've read his autobiographies, so not much in the film was news to me, but I thought JP captured the depth of the man and the intensity of his struggles, his turmoil and finally, the peace he found.

Just realized I'm wearing my Cash t-shirt from the show!

I love films. Love them.  Huge Hitchcock fan (have seen Vertigo numerous times).

    Favorite movie ever: Amadeus.

School of Rock: unexpectedly charming and sweet and very funny.

I watch anything with Gary Oldman or Alan Rickman in it.

Maybe we should start individual threads - favorite comedy, favorite drama, favorite indie, etc??

We saw DaVinci Code tonight.  If you read the book, it is very good, I think.  If you didn't read the book, you may be somewhat lost.  If you have no idea about the whole premise, etc., you will be very lost.  The movie is very similar to the book though... moreso than other books/movies.

Pofi,,,I agree with you on Walk the Line!  Gee, it really wasn't Johnny Cash, he didn't really look like him, so it was only right that they didn't use Cashs voice.  I thought they did a really really good job singing the songs...I really enjoyed the movie.

Is aw the preview for DaVinci Code and it just looked way to confusing. I didn't read the book, but since then looked into what the whole thing is all about. I don't think I'm going to see it though.

An old movie I recommend... for all dog lovers, but especially Great Dane and Dachshund lovers... The Ugly Dachshund.  It is an old Disney (not animated) movie about a family who raises a dane as a dachshund and the dogs cause havoc and the dane is always blamed and the dachshunds are always the cute innocent ones.  It has a cute ending too.  It may be hard to find, but if you have blockbuster movies delivered to your house, they have it and netflix probably does too.

I'm adding The Ugly Dachsund to my Blockbuster list right now! Sounds cute. [:D]

I'm going to see the Da Vinci Code tonight. I've never read the book, and I am pretty clueless as to what it's about, so I guess I can expect to be confused.

I saw 'In her Shoes' it was ok(if you want a chick flick). 'Ice Age 2' was funny and 'The Wild' was ok too.

Let me know what you think.  Someone I know who had never read it loved it.  I don't know if she knew the background or not.

I bought the Family Stone and finally got around to watching it. It was good... not the total comedy they portray it to be though.. there is some sadness to that movie. It was good, but now I wish I would have waited and paid less money for it.

I just saw The DaVinci Code. It was okay - one part Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, one part Beautiful Mind, one part Conspiracy Theory.  It certainly wasn't worth all the hype about it, just an average run-of-the-mill movie.  I'd say catch it on DVD rather than pay $9 - you don't even have to see it on a big screen 'cause it's mostly exposition anyway. No big scenes that work best large.

It must be my weekend for pseudo-history, too. 'Cause we watched King Arthur last night.  I love Arthurian legend/history, so I was kinda interested in this even though I'd heard it was lame.  Oh, boy, was it bad!!  It didn't even seem like they tried to get anything right, despite the title at the front that said "This is the true story."  [8|]  Plus, it wasn't even a very good movie. I'm willing to take playing around with facts, especially with something like Arthur which is mostly legend anyway, but you gotta give me an entertaining movie at least!

Well, I knew just about nothing about the movie, except that I had seen a little thing about Robert Langdon on the news the other night, apparently he's from somewhere around here, and I saw a little bit about Opus Dei on the news the other night too. Those were some segments leading up to the movie. The friend I went with had read the book.
I was absolutely and totally confused. I didn't really get it at all. That albino guy (my friend said he was albino, except he couldn't have been completely albino because he had blue eyes) anyway, he scared the hell out of me. My religious beliefs, or rather, lack there of, probably also did not help.

    I can't wait for POTC 2!!

Robert Langdon's not a real person. He's a fictional character from two of Brown's books, and he's named after John Langdon, a guy who makes art out of words (they're kind of Escher like).  I don't know where John Langdon's from, so he could be from around where you live. [:D]

    ETA: What's POTC 2?
