Animals in the classified ads

I thought that it was illegal to sell wolf hybrids who were more than 24% wolf blood-after that point, they were not longer considered as domestic animals and hence couldn't be liscenced to live in populated areas?  We would hope the local DNR and animal control groups are looking into that Ad for the 3/4 wolf pups.

Depends upon the laws of your state. In texas, buying or selling a full wolf is illegal but hybrids are not addresed....anything 99% and under is legal. (However your individual city/county may have more stringent laws). I own a 50% and have never had any legal issues with it.

*and before someone bashes me for owning a wolf hybrid* he was given to me by my parents when I was 12 and I'm now 24....I wouldn't buy another one because they have a lot of issues, but I love the one I have!

I thought it was 97% and under in Texas, but I can't tell you why I was under that impression.  Texas is very lax about exotics unfortunately.  I see lots of wolfdog ads in papers all the time too.  Those make me really sad too.

The reason it's 99% and under is because the law actually doesn't even mention hybrids at all...it says that owning "a wolf" is illegal without a permit but there is no mention of hybrids at all, making it basically legal to own anything not "pure wolf".

Here is how the law is worded (info courtesy of the National Wolfdog Alliance) [font="helvetica, arial"]"No person in Texas may possess, transport, receive or release a live wolf in this state." Wolf Hybrids are not regulated at the state level; however, some counties and municipalities have local regulations regarding these animals.

    4. "Pregnant mother cat and kitten free to good home, please save her from going to the pound." This one burns me. Maybe it's a good person who picked up the cats and is trying to find them homes before sending them to the shelter, but I really do doubt it considering the number of calls we get from people saying, "Well, if you don't take him/her/it, it's going to the pound, and it'll die there."

Don't let it burn you too badly....Like you said, it might be a good person trying to find them homes.

I live on a rural road and people drop pregnant kitties here all the time...unfortunately, I can't afford to spay and keep every female cat they drop off and all the babies...I do try to find them a home though.

Someone dropped a beautiful orange and white kitty near my home about a month ago and I took her inside because she was a real sweetheart. Guess what? Turns out she was preggers! Now I have 4 beautiful kitties that I wasn't planning on....Thankfully I only need one more home and they're all accounted for. I'm keeping mama though...she's a great snuggler!
