Dog in the classroom..

We had one bio prof on campus that always brought his yellow lab when he was doing work or research in his office.  Another psych prof used to use his Golden for some of his psych lessons.  Then the administration banned dogs in the buildings, even though everyone loved these dogs and had someone complained about an allergy, the owners would have gladly complied.  So basically there's no chance anyone can have an office dog.

My oldest goes to a private school and the administrator brings her dog everyday. She has her own little babygated area in the classroom to retreat to if she needs a break or if she gets barky, which doesn't happen often but sometimes in a PTA meeting she gets penned up because the adults get so loud and then she'll bark! Montessori classrooms are typically pretty quiet. The kids love her!

In my old position here at work I was able to bring in my dog daily.  It was awesome for his socialization to people of various ethnicities and backgrounds.  And of course he did get some very inventive nicknames from some of my Asian co-workers...[;)]

The school where I work participates in PIE- Pets In Education.  We have certified therapy dogs come in for the kids to read to (once in awhile a cat, too).  Unfortutately, it seems like none are coming to my building lately- we had to have Mick pts in July and the woman who owns the Golden that came in every week just had a baby.  I haven't seen the board member and her dog lately, either.  Caleb goes every couple of weeks with me so the kids can see how he's grown and what he's learned.  I knew I was in trouble if he didn't when I walked into school the first day in September, and the principal said, "So, when are we going to get to see the new pup in person?".  LOL
