SOME DAYS JUST DON'T START OUT WELL

So, I'm taking Max for his walk this a.m.and he stops to poop in the tall grass along side the bike path. I much prefer that he do it in the dirt or bark (easier to pick up) but I can't expect to choose his poop spots for him now, can I? Anyway, I'm trying to get as clean a pick-up as I can and all of a sudden I feel my fingernail pierce the little blue bag. Yup. There I am with a fingernail full of dog poop. Ugh! We go about 1/4 of a mile to one of the restrooms in the park, which of course is out of soap and paper towels. I do the best job I can with running water (not too efficient) and off we go for the rest of our walk - where we must have come across every person and dog we knew to stop and chat and/or sniff. It was almost 2 hrs. from the time we left the house until we got home - and me with dog poopy fingers. It felt sooo good to finally get home and grab the anti-bacterial soap and the little scrubby brush. Crying

I carry the waterless handsanitizer with me for just this reason. Plus I actually buy those doggy pick up bags that cost like a buck for 50. The people at the park laughed at me but it sure saves on the poopy fingers when you use a wallyworld bag! They came around.

I dunno what's worse, a poopy fingernail, or stepping on one of them big land mines. Once in a while you get one or the other. Jules

it's happened to me too...

now i carry around some of those little wet- naps &
just clean up right away.
I get them at Wal-mart really cheap...

[:'(] Yuk. Rupert always looks at me weird when I have to pick up his poop. Like, what in the world are you doing? Usually it's only when we go to the dog park. We have a big yard so he goes in the woods at home, and we walk along a wooded road.

They also make these things that are like the breath "pocket packs" (i think that is what they are called) Anyway you know those little sheets of stuff you put on your tongue that disolve and freshen breath...ok, well they make those that are soap....they are bigger and come in a similar style of container but you put a sheet on your hand and run under water and rub your hands together and *presto chango* you have hand soap.

I love them because when I travel you can't always count on restrooms to have soap....i also use the hand sanitizer.

I think my dogs think I'm eating it.

My DH gets me industrial strength latex gloves from work, and I put those on to scoop it up, dump it in my grocery bags, and throw it all away. So far no poopy fingers!
