Errrm Gollum is scaring me

I also thought of you Gina when I looked at the FDA website today.  But, didn't say anything because I knew you were on top of things. 
 
I'm checking the FDA website daily now to make sure we can eat what's in our fridge and Willow's closet!  Sad, but true.

Interestingly our news recently, like last week...ran a story on how people are collecting turtles now for sale overseas for MEAT. Asian markets are paying well right now as their own markets are pretty much depleted. They are taking pond turtles and there are currently no regs here to protect them....I felt glad Gollum was with us.
 
I wondered if the warning was posted to discourage collecting for the reason above as well as just "public health".

i knew there were turtle farms selling turtles for meat, but didnt know people were collecting them. it just figures that this would happen. Whats wrong with eating pigs and cows and chickens? there is more meat on them.....
these countries have idiots in charge or something.... they seem to be encouraging their people to rape the land of all its resources then beg for help from outsiders..... how is that productive?
Maybe i'm wrong, but there was a show on PBS a few weeks ago about this. they are making FARMERS leave their land, owned for generations, just so it can be turned into a giant reservoir. There is very little encouragement to try to improve things. its depressing. And now we have our own countrymen sending OUR resources to them..... sure i dont mind helping feed starving people, but not turtles...

ok okok ok.... i'll shut up and go away..... just makes me mad..... this is one of the reasonsUS bears populations are falling... people wanting their gall bladders for hocus pocus aphrodisiacs.... That pays a lot of money too!!
