Need help finding an Alzheimer Assoc. to make donation to

My boss's grandmother just passed away from a long battle with Alzheimer's and we want to do something for her.  Long story short:  we couldn't do flowers or food or anything like that, so our school's executive committee wants to make a donation in her grandma's name to an alzheimer's association that does research or something like that.  Does anyone know of one?

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your boss's grandmother.  [linkhttp://alz.org/]http://alz.org/[/link]  This link is a good start. My father died of dementia & I wouldn't wish it on anyone.  My heart goes out to your boss & her family.

The link that Annie gave you for the Alzheimer's Association is the one I was also going to recommend. They do a lot with research.  Another thing your school might want to consider is donating locally. Many skilled nursing homes have an Alzheimers unit and you might be able to make a donation for something that they could use to enhance the living situation for patients. It could even be toward a garden area or something to improve the nursing home and make it more enjoyable for the residents. For example ;potted plants or a small garden can also be something that the activities people and staff can use with the residents as part of therapy... (ie- the residents can help tend for the garden and there are a lot of other ways this can be used to help with mental stimulation and cognition).

I think it is wonderful that your school wants to donate. My grandfather had severe dementia and passed away about 6 months ago and I also use to work on an Alzheimer's unit in a nursing home so I have spent a lot of time seeing how devastating this disease can be.  [&o]

I know it's a little late, but for anyone else looking....
My friend's mother-in-law is a national speaker on Alzheimers (wrote books for caregivers, etc.) Anyway, she gave us this information, if it's at all helpful - looks like a regional division of the same org (alz.org):
