Walking the puppy!

    Walking the puppy!

My usual walk with Duke is about an hour in the morning and 1 hour at night, (give or take some days).  So far I have only been taking Daisy on short little walks and she hasn't come on one of our big walks.  I am wondering, do you think that she may still be too young for a 1 hour walk?  She is 14 weeks today and she weighs about 5 lbs.  She gets the last of all of her shots early next week.

I would love for her to be able to come with us, I think that it would be really good for her.  Plus Duke would have a blast if she were there with us.

I think that at 14 weeks, an hour long walk would be to much.IMHO. I'm sure someone else will be along to give better advice.

this is walking on leash? puppies really shouldn't be "forced" to maintain a particular gait/speed, such as a walk or a trot, for long periods of time. Can damage their joints. If you can put the puppy on a long line or safely let him off-leash, so he can move at his own chosen speed(s), you could try a half an hour, and then gradually move up to an hour.

    Thank you for the replies.

Mudpuppy, I think that is what I will try.  I was thinking about trying her on leash, but I will just keep that for when we are walking just the two of us so we can go nice and slow.  I can carry her too for most of the walk, (she is so lite), and then during our safe spots she can run beside us.
