    Do Not Call & Telemarketers

JUST A REMINDER Today, 23 January 2007, all CELL phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you may (will) start to receive telemarketing sales calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.....

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. Or, you may go on line to register.

The transaction is easy. It takes only a few minutes. One thing to remember, you must call from the cell phone you want to block. Otherwise just go to the web site.

Thanks for the tip. We do get calls now and then at home, but they are political ads, which are conveniently exempt from the do-not-call list. My husband puts the two-year-old on the phone for them to talk to!

~LOL~  your 2-year old?  How funny!  I ask them to hold, I put the phone down & walk away for a bit.  [:D]

Thanks for the info!  I didn't realize that they were even going to release the numbers!  I just put mine, Dads & my brothers #s.  I really wish it wasn't such an issue where we have to do this sort of thing....

I wish I could do this.  Unfortunately, I don't have a child and whenever I get the political ads they are always pre-recorded and so I can't even tell them to take me off their phone list.  [:@]

When we got on our state's DNC list, it took 3 months for it to be active.  I missed the deadline for it to be immediate.  When the 3 months were up, we still got a couple of calls.  I filled out one of the on line reports, and that was the end of it.

Who is offering up our cell numbers? The cell phone companies?

That rumor has been going around for a couple of years now. Thankfully it's not true.

This is true, there is no deadline.  But, cell users are still free to put their cell numbers on the "do not call" list, and considering the ways in which numbers can leak out, it's probably a good idea to do so. (Check sites like zabasearch.com if you think no one has your numbers LOL)  The site in our OP is accurate.  So, even if your cell number has not appeared anywhere it shouldn't, if you want to register it's up to you.
