I had an opportunity to meet Bill Gates. Now, being a Mac person, the only thing I could think to say was, "Thanks for doing what you do so Apple can do what they do." Which I don't mean in a snotty way, but it would take a master to say that and get it across neutrally, which IS how I mean it. It takes all kinds, in other words.
This was at Susan Butcher's memorial service. Melinda gave a eulogy for her, and Bill sat in the audience. Later, when everyone was milling around the food tables and visiting, a friend of mine saw a dorky looking nerd standing in a corner looking uncomfortable. Thinking, in typcial Fairbanks fashion, to go make the guy feel welcome, she was about to go chat him up when Melinda, Senator Ted Stevens and other "famous" people (George Lucas was there, too--I was too star-struck to talk to him, and that's saying something for ME!) walked up and guided him back to their group. It was only at that point that my friend figured out that Nerdy Guy was Bill Gates!
He'd be a crappy president, in my opinion. The country is NOT a business.
Look at that last business man who tried to run. Perot. Oh, wait, he was a Ferengi in disguise....those ears.....
