I give it to Sofia but she doesn't chew it for MONTHS. It remains a very favorite TOY though, and gets tossed all over the house and has to be rescued from under the couch numerous times a week. Then one day I'll find it in the toilet, where she's put it to soften. [:'(]

Pressed rawhide is definitely safer than regular rawhide. If people haven't seen them before... it's different from your regular knotted or braided rawhide, it's chopped up into tiny bits and then compressed back into some kind of shape. It's like... particleboard as opposed to a 2x4, if you can picture that. I'm still not a big fan of pressed rawhide but I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you have a known chunk-gulper.

Grey loves chewing on anything, and he had a blast with pressed rawhides in the past, but it gave him the runs, so I avoid them. Brown and Grey really love to chew on sterilized beef bones. They're hard as a rock, and they last forever. We still have the original ones, which I bought over two years ago.

the thing about ALL pet products is that they have the potential to be harmful depending on each animal. bones and ropes are great teeth breakers for aggressive chewers, greenies rawhides and stuffed animals can cause a blockage in animals that swallow things whole, tennis balls can cause choke, or can sand a tooth down to the root. it's not really possible to group a product into a 'good or bad', you have to decide if it's good or bad for your pet in particular.
