    Sneezing kitty

Sorry, I don't know where to put this exactly. I guess I could stick it on the kitty forum, but I've never posted over there.

Anyway, as some of you know, I have a new foster kitty named Peanut. She's about 5 weeks old (?) and I've had her for about 5 days. She's got a great appetite, normal amount of kitty energy, she's curious and playful. But she keeps sneezing. It seems to be getting more frequent. And today she sounded a little wheezy (sp) when she was breathing through her nose.

I called the foster office at the shelter, but no one got back to me. I'm supposed to go through them for all vet care, but I don't know if this is something I should be worried about or not. She's got no runny nose or eyes and no other symptoms of being sick. Could she be allergic to something?

I think if it were to move into a more pronounced stage of a respiratory thing, you'd see the runny eyes.  She could have just a little cold - does it seem any worse?

I do have one cat who just is kinda sneezy - he almost always sneezes when he wakes up!

Well she's just been sneezing and wheezing a little. Until this morning. When she woke up one of her eyes was closed and goopy. It's not mucusy (is that a word?), just real watery.

I still haven't heard back from the foster office at the shelter. I wonder if I should just take her in and have them look at her.

Sounds like an URI upper respiratory...VERY common in shelter kittens.
She needs a vet...they need to be managed carefully so they don't escalate.

Shoot, that's what I was afraid of. I wonder why no one from the shelter will call me back. They're either too busy or just don't think it's a big deal for one little kitty to be sick.

Is that contagious to other cats? She's on a different floor than my other cat, but I don't want both of them to be sick. Dogs can't catch disease from cats can they?
