Best of luck with your relocation.  Having moved across country 3 times, I know how stressful a major move can be.  And I agree with the others -  an internet cafe or library will be a must!  I couldn't imagine not having a computer for that long!  Take care, and we'll look forward to hearing a report from your new "digs!"

Good luck with the move.  At least you'll be moving before the weather turns really bad.

*Bump!* I have a rare chance to check in from the local library today! Our move was delayed (BF did not pass his CDL test the first time, rescheduled for 11/3 so wish him/us luck) and we are still in the internet-less house in MA. Planning to move now in early Nov. Cutting it a little close with the winter, I caught a Huskers game on TV last week and it was already snowing!! [sm=eek.gif]

The paring down of our copius "stuff" has gone pretty well, we got rid of a lot and we've been shipping boxes out to BF's brother for a month so we won't have to cram the van too much. Our temporary home is a bachelor pad but nice in its way - it's literally on the beach, which Russell loves of course. A few times a day we just step out the back door onto the beach and let him run around. Unfortunately for the most part Russell has been a bit of a nervous wreck since we moved, easily frightened, barking at every little thing which he never really did before, and growling/barking at every passing dog which he also never used to do. We're keeping him with us as much as possible - I don't know if that's the right or wrong way to handle it but our thought is let's not freak him out anymore than we already are by moving etc.

Debbie - we're moving to Omaha. When we get there we're staying with BF's mom for a few days until we find an apartment. We'll probably rent for a year (or two if necessary) before buying a house. I'm a little nervous about how Russell's going to handle meeting BF's mom's dogs - she has a dachshund and an elderly Lab mix. R usually does well with small dogs and with old dogs but he's been really weird about other dogs lately so I'm crossing my fingers on that one.

So, I'm off to browse the rest of the board for a bit and this is probably the last you'll hear from me for another few weeks! [:D]

ETA: Oh - I almost forgot I have a dog related anecdote only this group will appreciate...

The very first day that we moved to our sublet we passed a woman sitting on a bus stop bench with a puppy and a big sign next to the road that said "Husky puppy 6 mo old for sale." (Busy city street.) At first we just drove by but we felt so bad for the dog we had to turn around and pull over - we were in no position to buy a puppy but I thought if we could afford it we could buy him and bring him to a shelter. This lady had the cutest little puppy with her, didn't look like a purebred Husky at all and definitely not a 6 mo old anything. I asked her why she was selling him and she said "because he's going to get too big." You didn't know that when you got a HUSKY?? I asked her if she was sure he was a Husky and she said well no he was a Husky/Lab mix. The dog looked no more than 25 lbs, small, thin, had all his baby teeth. I asked her if she was sure he was 6mo old because he seemed small for that, and she said he was. I asked about his shots and she said he'd gotten his first round. I was totally hating this chick but trying to be polite. I asked how much she wanted for him and she said $150. I looked at my BF but he shook his head no, we really couldn't afford to do it. I must point out there was an animal hospital directly across the street, with its sign facing this woman. Grrr. We both felt so horrible leaving the pup there but in our situation there wasn't much we could do. I don't think it's illegal or anything to sell a puppy on the street so we didn't think we could "report" her to anyone. I just hope he somehow lucked out and found a good home. [&:]

OK my time is about to expire on the computer, now I really have to go!

I doubt this helps but my son was also a big TURD during our move, surly and short tempered and antsy...lol! He's 3 and he settled right down to his old self post move...here's to hoping Russell does the same, I am sure he's just wondering what's a goin' on.
