    ebooks?

does anyone buy ebooks? if so where can you get the best prices?

i just checked on a book i was interested in reading. our local library doesnt have any copies, so i thought i could save a couple of bucks on an e version. i found the book on sale (hard cover) for $11.50 online, and the ebook price is $17.99. i didnt want to necessarily add to our book collection, and i can read ebooks more easily at work.

You can get any book through interlibrary loan. If your library doesn't have it, ask your librarian to help you locate it at another library. It doesn't have to be in your library system, either.

I don't know where to get e-books...I find it hard to read very long on the computer anyway.

If you get an e-book, do you have to read it sitting at the computer or could you just print it up and take it wherever you want?

Actually, I used to read e-books on my PDA. It was an eMate, the original Mac Newton that was like a small laptop. Anyway, I'm sure you can read books on a Palm, too.

Printing them out kind of defeats the purpose of saving paper by having them electronically.

some ebooks come as a pdf and i know those can be printed. but there are many formats for ebooks and i am not sure if they can all be printed easily.

i have read some magazines in pdf format and i like that. i much prefer it to making a trip to the recycling center every week with tons of magazines and newspapers. i havent attempted to read an entire book in ebook format yet though.
