Going to Vet School

    Going to Vet School

I'm coming close to the end of my undergrad studies.  I thought this would be my last year but I still have 3 semesters to go and I will have a double major in Geology and Biology w/ pre-vet option.  Great, 7 ½ years and I'll be done with that!  Now, that's not the end, I really want to go to vet school.  So I've been looking around and discussing it with a few vets.  Most I talk to in this area when to CSU and I would love to go there also.  The only problem is Vet School is almost impossible to get into and will cost $100,000 + if I go anywhere in the US.

I received information about this one vet school called Ross University.  It's in the Caribbean, Dominican Republic to be more exact.  The way it works is it's an accelerated program, instead of taking 4 years to get through vet school it only takes 3.  The first two years are spent at their college and its year round with almost no break (3 years fit into 2) then on your last year you are guaranteed to get into a school in the US and finish your degree with a US Diploma.  Also the requirements for admission are less then in the US and the cost (while there) is also much less but the education is about equal and prepares the student for their last year in a US college.  It kind of gives those who can't get into the US colleges another chance to do what they love to do.

So any thoughts on this college, should I consider it?  Would you take your pet to a vet who went to this college?  Here is their website [linkhttp://www.rossu.edu/vet/]http://www.rossu.edu/vet/[/link]

I think most people here choose a Vet based on their competency, personality, experience and prices...not so much on where they went to school.  I didn't go to this site, but I have no problem with putting 4 years into 3 like that, if you think you can handle it and the knowledge is the same.  I would still judge on the above.
