I was never so glad to see a particular "fashion" disappear.[]  I went to a Catholic girls high school and once a month we had "free dress day" & didn't have to wear our uniforms.  We always got on the bus with huge, full skirts and 2 or 3 petticoats under them - each of us took up an entire bus seat.
