    field trial

Well this weekend Hawk and I competed in the last field trial off the season.  The weather was a bit warm the first day of the trial but the next day it rained lightly the entire moring keeping temps cool and very good for running.  It was a 7 hour drive to get to the site but is was well worth the trip even on my sprained ankle.  Hawk place first out of 12 dogs in the Amature derby and fourth out of 13 dogs  in the open derby.  They witheld first and second on the open derby so he really ;placed second.  The judges said that he was a join to watch as keep took long casts into the wind.  He found 3 birds in short 30 min time limit and was listening very well to my commads both days.  We were working as true team for the first time and I was so happy.  It  felt like we were all alone in the field just me and my best friend.  I was a bit sad that they witheld first and second that first day but I understand the judges reasons. The dogs were just not running big enough or hard enough in the tall grass ( waist heigh at some places) or warm tempertures.  Well any way here are a few pictures.

Wow Val, congrats! You must be very proud of your boy!  I don't think we could ever do field trials with Scout. He does not run big enough(wants to be within 30 feet of mom).  Congrats and ice that ankle girl!!!
