Nora, la perra espanola (pic heavy)

I was looking through some photos from my time in Spain last year and remembered these. Nora was my host family's dog, and was just as sweet as could be. My host family found her running loose in the streets of Madrid, cleaned and fattened her up, and then were going to find her a new home. (She's rather large for an apartment dog.) Well, they couldn't bear to part with her, so she's been with them ever since. They think she might be a Catalan Shepherd (example: [linkhttp://rarebreed.com/breeds/catalan.html]http://rarebreed.com/breeds/catalan.html[/link]) which is a fairly rare breed, but they're a lot more common in Spain than they are here.

Here she is, the big shaggy sweetheart:

Here's me making faces at the poor confused dog:

And finally, after being shaved for the summer (boy, did she look funny!):

Who could part with a sweet face like that?!  What a beautiful dog!  Although in the last picture she looks a little evil, or trying to say "please darling only from my good side" [8D]

I lover her blueish/gray coat, cute pupper!

aww!! She's SOOOO pretty! She reminds me of my mom's bearded collie, except she is a bit bigger and her coat is a more even color.
    She's GORGEOUS!

Wow, what a gorgeous dog!  She reminds me of a Bearded Collie, too.

OMG - Nora -- what a sweet sweet face!!!  I just love that first pic... it's no wonder they couldn't part with her!!

lol, she sulked for at least a week after my family took her to get clipped! Guess she likes her long hair [:D]

She had also had a terrifying experience a few weeks beforehand where the vet who was supposed to be giving her a bath took her to another groomer, who then left the doors open and let Nora escape. Loose dog in the streets of Madrid... not so good. Miraculously animal control found her alive and well, and we got her back within 24 hours of her escape! She was still fairly traumatized by that, poor thing.

She was so huggable. Seems like a great breed of dog - wish we'd see more of them out here!

Such a sweet face!  I love longhaired dogs (as long as I don't have to deal with grooming) so I would love to play with that hair for a bit.
