Finally Friday chat

    Finally Friday chat

Ahhhhh.  The weekend is almost here!  And, this weekend I get to do nothing but relax.  Maybe I'll do a little puttering in the flower beds....the poor rose bush is so overgrown and woody that it could stand a good pruning.  Lovely, old style roses tho with a fabulous aroma.

As always, busy day today so best get to it.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I hope both Julie & Ruby are feeling better.

Tomorrow is the memorial service for my friend who passed away from the lung/brain cancer.

I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Glenda, I thought roses were supposed to be pruned in February.  Maybe that's only for our area.  I think climbing roses can be pruned at any time.  Roses have to be hardy to survive in my yard.

    More showers this morning.

Good news about DH getting transferred to a different department.  Several of his big bosses decided that they didn't want to lose him to that department and they're making it clear that he's staying where he's at.  He's so happy and I'm happy if he's happy.

ETA: Vibes for Julie and Ruby to feel better.

Guess I missed Julie and Ruby, but sending good vibes too.

Jackie, I usually prune in the fall, however, these have been neglected and are super woody.....still blooming on the green parts, but the woody parts are trying to stab everyone that ventures near.

For some reason I'm not getting notifications even on the stuff I have it turned "on".   Frustrating.

Thankfully, our master gardener neighbor tells us when and how to prune our 3 rose bushes.  I think we pruned them during the winter sometime, before any super cold weather set in.  They are very pretty, but a little high maintenance for my taste.

Glad to hear your DH is staying where he's happy, Jackie.

Tina, memorial services/funerals are always difficult, but for me they are worse when the person died at a younger age and/or as a result of a tough illness like cancer.

Well, Ruby seemed to be okay yesterday -- I only fed her two light meals of ground turkey, rice, and pumpkin.  She made it through the night without needing to go out, and she was eager for breakfast.  I gave that same light meal but added about 1/4 cup of kibble.  Minutes later she was acting weird, went in her kennel, kind of sitting oddly.  I immediately assumed bloat.  But then my SIL got the toaster out and Ruby parked herself at the counter wanting a hand-out of toast.  Then she seemed okay, other than she's super mellow on the couch.  She's that way in the mornings anyway . . . and she's missing DH, so who knows if that's all it is.

My concern  now is she hasn't pooped at all since yesterday morning, but that may be due to the small meals.  I'm calling the vet again to see what, if anything, I should do at this point.  The plan was to bring in a stool sample today and pick up meds for Giardia, since we were assuming it's a flare-up of that, but without a sample to confirm, I don't know if the vet will want me to give her meds or not.  Sigh.  I'll keep you posted -- in the meantime, I'd appreciate some iDog good vibes!  Thanks all!

My concern  now is she hasn't pooped at all since yesterday morning, but that may be due to the small meals.

It could also be because her system was so empty. Not to seem too gross, but if she had such severe liquid diarrhea, it will take her a bit to have something to poop.

Of course, contacting the vet is still a good idea. Smile

Sending all the good vibes I've got for Ruby!

Jackie so glad that Mr. Jackie is happy !

Tracy, tell Ruby we said feel better soon!  Glenda I loved reading about your squirrels....mine beg but they do it from the roof peak of the  well house it is so cute.  They know Rocky cant get up there. If their feeder is empty they will double team me one on the peak and one on the arbor, lol. Rocky will just sit there and look at them like....come on down, just try it :)

Well, new here is, Hot is walking better but I am not sure that the staph is going away.  He hates his medicine and I have given Ron the task of giving him the medicine.

Now to me, I have found out this week that I am most likely going to have hip replacement surgery.  Bummer.  If you remember my daughter had hers 2 years ago, and Mom was last year...my turn I guess.  My 1st appointment with the surgeon is Aug 27th so it will be a few months.  Now my biggest fear and maybe some can appreciate this..... Ron will have to be in charge.  Now that is scarey :)

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I miss you guys!

Ginger - nice to hear from you.  I'm sorry to hear that Hot's still battling some infection.  Paws are so hard to heal, especially with the added problem of icky medicine.  I'm also sorry you've got to have hip surgery.  On the bright side, at least you're pretty well experienced with what to do since your Mom and daughter have been through it.  Don't blame you for the concern about DH being in charge!

Went to the vet to get the meds, told her I didn't have a sample and gave her the "no poop" update.  She said what you said, Tina -- she may not have enough food in her, and she's burning off the small meals I gave her.  She wasn't sure what to think about her weird behavior this morning.  She said to go ahead an give her the antibiotics anyway, she may just be feeling crummy if it is giardia, and it won't cause much harm for her to take the 5 day course.  I gave her some turkey at 1pm, and I'll give her a more sizable meal with kibble for dinner and see what happens.  She took a short walk and maintained a normal pace, peed, etc., but she's still mellow otherwise.  Fingers crossed there's something resembling normal poopage tonight!

Gin, sorry to hear you need hip replacement surgery.  I wish I was closer so I could help out.  Good vibes for Hot too.  Staph can be a tough to battle. Hope he starts improving soon.

Tracy, here's to poopage soon.  Solid poopage I should add. :)

Glad to hear you got some meds for ruby. Hopefully she will be better tomorrow. Poor girl.

Abbie went on her first search today. She has been to searches but I never got her out of the car for various reasons. Today she got to go and she made momma proud! She was like a little disaster dog climbing in and around several rubble / debris piles in the woods. My support even made a comment "wow we barely get some disaster dogs to work piles that good". She searched very nicely. We were not able to give the family closure. We didn't really expect to but we did help them rule some areas out and confirmed some info they had. It felt good to at least do that.

I'm glad Abbie did so well.  Sad for the family.

Gabby woke me up whining.  Took her out and she ran and picked up a toy in the yard and started tossing it in the air.  Um, no.  We're not playing at 4:30 AM.

    Great job Abbie!

I am hoping Ruby is doing better soon

Oh Ginger, I am sorry to hear  about Hot's continued struggles and your hip surgery.
