    6/18/14 Hump day!!

Boo hiss I have to go into the office in a bit - I've been out and done 4 miles with B before the super oppressive heat arrives for the day. We've cooled off and had breakfast and he is in recovery mode ................ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

No one has bought my car yet LOL
However I am getting excited for the new one to arrive!

That's all really - I have a zillion things on my mind and feel very scattered.

It is Wednesday which means it's nearly Friday, or something like that though

Have a good one - stay cool!

Karen....makes me tired just reading about your morning wake up!

Yes, we did move 6 weeks ago....to a house of horrors.  The bugs, specifically BED bugs in the other side of the house were just too much for me.  We didn't have anything in our side, other than heavy duty spiders, but, in the first 4 weeks, we had to TWICE schelp everything out to the laundramat.  When they told me on May 31st that they'd be back in 3 more weeks with the dog, that was it.  The landlord didn't give a rats patooty that the woman in the other unit was being eaten alive by the darned things, nor that she was allergic and ending up in the ER.  His attitude towards reimbursing the massive laundry bills was oh, yeah, whenever.......  Our neighbors had moved in April 1 and by April 4 she was all bitten.  They'd been in the same house for 5 years.  The HOUSE however, has been infested for many years, something that the owner neglected to mention to either of us.

So, we've been moving for the last 10 days or so.  Washing, yet again, everything stitch of anything we own, trying to make it not so difficult to feel at home.  Mind you, me with one usable arm.......working all day, doing a little each night.....but we are completely out of the house of perpetual bugs now.

We had a nasty storm last night.  Of course, I was totally unaware of it until I got up this morning.  Yesterday was beastly hot and humid, so hopefully the storm took some of that weather with it.  Ya'll know me and heat.

I've got another busy day today (but hopefully a cooler one) so wishing everyone here a great day!

    Ewww...that sounds awful, Glenda.

    I need a nap. Sleep

Yikes Glenda!  That's horrible.  I hope the next place is a lot better.  Couldn't be much worse.

Class with Belle last night went very well.  No one seems to believe that Belle is reactive to other dogs.  She could not have cared less about the two other dogs.  I know that things will be different in real life settings but I'm pretty happy right now.  Also pretty sleepy.  I think a nap sounds wonderful.

Glenda, that sounds truly nightmarish.  I can't imagine dealing with that.  What a hassle to have to move yet again.  I hope you were able to find someplace you like on such short notice.  What a crummy landlord!

My friend moved into an apartment on April 1st and soon after she and her daughter started getting tons of flea bites.  The previous resident had a cat, and the landlord had "bombed" the place, but they kept coming back.  Turns out they had to treat the apartment next door, too.  Those people had cats that were contributing to the problem.  Thankfully, it's solved now.

Glad to hear Belle did so well in her class.  It's definitely harder to have the same success in "real world" environments, but at least you can begin from a confident place after her good experience in the class.

Ruby has had some housebreaking issues lately.  Think I'll start a separate thread in the B&T area.

Man you guys are making me happy I don't rent! That sounds awful.

That's great that Belle is acting so good in class!

I'm exhausted. Last night a bunch of storms came through and they were explosively loud! Kept me up practically all night. It was crazy. I was just waiting for a tree to fall on the house. We are in for another round of storms like that too in about an hour. We have certainly had our fair share of weather this year. It's nuts.

The clock is moving terribly slow today. I'm ready to go spin the dial myself it's so bad. I'm waiting for an officer to call me back too. We have been on stand by for a search all day. I'm sure they will call as soon as the crazy thunderstorms hit with golf ball sized hail ;p

(((( Glenda)))), I'm so sorry you had to move again; what a hassle for you, especially with washing everything while moving. I didn't know one of your arms is injured; hope it heals soon. I hope the place you're moving to will be much better, though it could hardly be worse.

Jackie; it's great that Belle did so well in the class!  You are a great dog mom to take the time to train her!

We wanted this house before we moved into the house of horrors.  The gal who owns it called me the day after we moved saying it would be available.  Needless to say we weren't interested....then.  A couple weeks later it was a different story.  This one is perfect.  Nice area, no cop cars cruising up and down the street with spotlights on, QUIET, no drug dealers and no loud parties that go on until dawn.  Oh, and we didn't have to scrub and clean for two days and still feel like it wasn't clean like we did in the last one.  I can actually go barefoot in this house since the wood floors have been sealed and maintained.  It's nice.  Still in a bit of a mess, but, it's nice.

Glenda, I hate to sound like a Polly-Anna, but maybe this is a case of "everything happens for a reason."  The bed bugs had to happen in order for you to get into the house you wanted in the first place!  I'm glad you ended up where you wanted to be, and it sounds like a much better house and neighborhood!  Don't worry, the mess will get organized in time!  Take it slow -- you don't want to hurt your healthy shoulder!

I need to address my chocolate/sugar addiction.  I bought one of those movie-theatre size boxes of Raisinettes yesterday (on sale), and I've eaten 3/4 of it already today (and it's not even lunch time).  Seriously, I really do think I've got a problem.  If I had the time and the money, I'd check into one of those health-spas for a month so I could stop my horrible eating habits and re-boot my palate and digestive system.

Tracy, I absolutely agree.  Stuff happens as it's supposed to.

Just got a nasty text from the slumlord wanting 15 days rent.  Ummmm, no.  It would have cost him at least $500 to clean that dump if we hadn't done it, and that's just a basic, half butt cleaning.  Imagine a pro opening a self cleaning oven that had oven cleaning sprayed in BEFORE the self cleaning cycle was run.  Gawd!  What a mess!  He's saying that since my side wasn't "infected" I have no grounds to break the lease.  Seriously????  I had to do all the same stuff the people on the buggy side did.  Give me a break.

Anyway, just delighted to be out of there and away from him!

I bought one of those movie-theatre size boxes of Raisinettes yesterday (on sale), and I've eaten 3/4 of it already today

If I remember correctly, those boxes don't hold all that much. Wink

Seriously, I can go overboard with chocolate so I limit what I keep around. I broke a bad addiction to sugar a few years ago when I fractured my tooth. I couldn't eat anything and lost nearly 25lbs. I don't recommend damaging teeth, however. I had to look at the root cause of my eating (boredom, depression) and what my choices were. I started eating a piece of fruit (usually a banana) as breakfast. Then I don't get the mid-morning munchies because lunch is so far away. I can't eat as soon as I get up in the morning, but I do have my fruit around 9:00a. I'm not much of a snack eater; I eat lunch and dinner. I have noticed that if I don't eat regular meals, I tend to over-indulge on things that are bad for me (chocolate). I also allow myself to fail and start over again when necessary because there are days my ability to resist is much lower than others.

I ate the rest of the box after lunch.  I'm pathetic.  Embarrassed

It's interesting you mention the "root cause" of mindless eating, Tina.  I was talking with a friend the other day about how we both find that we do NOT mindlessly eat on the weekends while at home.  I can get busy doing things around the house and suddenly it's noon and I think, "Gee, I probably should eat something."  At work, on the other hand, I'm constantly wanting to snack on something.  I think the basic issue is boredom.  Even on my busiest days rushing to meet a deadline, it's not like the actual tasks I do are all that challenging (an issue when you've been at a job for years and years).

I typically have breakfast about 8am (cereal or oatmeal), but by 10am, I'm at my desk wanting something.  Today the Raisinettes called me and I cannot resist chocolate.  I don't keep stuff like that at home, but it's easy at work to walk across the street to the market and get something sweet.  My lame excuse is it's the only time I stretch my legs all workday, get fresh air, etc.  I've tried keeping almonds and such at my desk, and I'll chow down those, but I still crave the sugar thing.

I wish there was a way to turn that craving off.  Years ago my friend went to an acupuncturist for her chronic back pain and her therapist put some needles in points to address some cravings (caffeine & sugar).  Maybe I should try that.  I've heard people try it to quit smoking.  It's better than fracturing a tooth to force a change!  Wink
