    TGIF 5-2-14 chat

I managed to successfully complete dressing for work today before I left the house.

I'm supposed to go to a Kentucky Derby tailgate party tomorrow, but if it is rainy and cold, I will be staying home. It's just not the same with the track closed. Sad

My background check for my 2nd job came back clean. I got called yesterday to do paperwork and orientation, but the time slot that was available (this morning at 9:00a) was not a good fit. I hope that doesn't hurt me in the long run. Someone is supposed to call me back with a later time.

Not much else. I asked for month-end paperwork to be sent early and it was. I'd best attack the mountain.

That's good news about the new second job Tina.  I'm sure you not being able to be there this morning won't affect anything.  They know you have a full time job.

Farmers market tomorrow will have peaches!  First of the season from local grower.  I wish I wasn't taking my cousin along but that's the trade off. lol

Tons of paperwork to do and no motivation in sight.  Better try and find some.

Gosh, Tina -- I'd forgotten about your second job!  Glad to hear you passed the background check.  Guess they didn't use "remembering daily deodorant" as one of the markers!  Wink

And speaking of the deodorant incident, that comic that Stephanie posted yesterday was hilarious!  That's exactly what I was imagining in my mind.  It's been years since I've seen a Cathy cartoon, but it must be in the deep recesses of my memory because the image was so similar!

One of Ruby's two playmates went in for some exploratory dental procedures today:  he needed a cleaning, but he's been "grinding" his teeth, as my friend describes it, so they wanted to get a better look at his entire mouth.  Turns out he has 5 teeth needing to be pulled and several "pockets" of small tumors and one big one in the back of his mouth, all of which were removed.  They don't suspect cancer; the vet referred to it as Boxer mouth.  Has anyone heard of such a thing?

Ruby has her first dental cleaning on Tuesday.  I'm already worried about her going under anesthesia, but I sure hope they don't find anything serious.  Our friends' dog is about 7, so he's fairly senior for a Boxer.

I've never heard of "Boxer mouth", but I'm sending healing vibes for Ruby's friend. When Ginger had her dental and 3 teeth pulled recently, it did not inhibit her from eating. Dog forbid she miss a meal. Huh?

Also, good thoughts for Ruby's upcoming dental.

I've not heard of "boxer mouth" either, so I Googled it and found this: www.vethelpdirect.com/.../epulis-a-gum-problem-seen-mainly-in-boxers

I'm in a bit of a grumpy mood and don't really have a good reason for it.

Other than that, I've got nothing.... hope everyone has a good weekend.

Tracy, I hope all your friend's boxer's growths are Epulis.  Not to worry you but a friend of mine, whose dog is already in failing health, found out last week that what she initially thought was an Epulis was cancer.  They removed it and it was a combination of overgrown gum tissue and a cancerous tumor.  She's not going to treat the dog as she's old and in bad health.  I've known this dog since she was a young pup and I'm so sad for my friend.

Steph, I get grumpy for no reason too sometimes.  Have some chocolate and we can meet up at the Tiki bar later.

Thanks for that link, Steph.  I just sent it to my friend.  Definitely put that in the category of "you learn something new every day!"

Hopefully they're all benign growths, but I'm sure my friend will worry until the vet has the pathology results.  Her dog is like GingerD -- constantly wanting to eat, so I doubt he'll skip many meals during his recovery, either!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's dog, Jackie.  I hope they have as many peaceful and comfortable days together as possible.

Thanks for the good vibes for Ruby, too.  I'll be reminding you all again on Tuesday morning!  Wink

As for grumpy moods, that reminds me of one of the funniest lines from that movie, "Steel Magnolias."  Someone calls Shirley Maclaine's character crazy, and she retorts, "I'm not crazy, I've just been in a very bad mood for the last 40 years!"   Big Smile

Chocolate + Tiki bar...... yep, that sounds like the perfect solution.  I'm on my way!

I am still signed on!! Woohoo!

Tina, congrats on the background check--I am confident deodorant is not part of the check :-) I worry about my black socks matching--I have too many different pairs and they're all a different color black.

I had never heard of Boxer mouth or Epulis. Prayers that all goes well.

Ruby, good thoughts for you too!

    Fresh peaches already?? Oh, yummmy!

Today is my Dad's 85th birthday, so I cooked dinner for him (and Mom and my aunt and uncle). Tomorrow, we're having a little open house for him. Should be fun--he is loving this birthday, which is fun.

Happy belated birthday to your Dad Kate!  I hope he had a great day!

I stayed logged on too.  Could it be the fix really is in?

Have a good weekend everyone.  It's a beautiful day here and I plan to enjoy it.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yes folks - it's fixed. I hope we never have to discuss it again and we can all start enjoying using this new community :-) Enjoy the weekend, folks. Jonathan
