    Saturday, 3-29-14

I can't believe I'm starting a thread! If there's another, feel free to merge.

It's been a crappy week--three people passed away, including one of my student teachers and two older folks from the island.

Gin, did you say mint chocolate chip ice cream???? My favorite--I'll be over for a bowl!

Glenda, that totally stinks about your house.

I cannot believe some of you are planting your peppers and tomatoes already! Wow!! We are just getting rid of the snow. Right here, we only have some shaded piles left, so I think spring is on the way.

Doug, I am loving all the pictures of Lugnut/Guns...keep them coming! And, the training facility looks amazing.

Rains are on the way here for the rest of the weekend, so I need to take Miss Mozey for a quick walk so we don't get soaked. I also got a call from our acupuncture vet about a lab who needs a home (and of course I said I'd meet him), but the vet's contact from the rescue hasn't gotten in touch yet. Maybe later today...

Rain headed our way too, but for now it's 43, feels like 55.  Tomorrow was supposed to be really cold and rainy, but now they are saying 42  and rainy, Monday as well, and all next week looks to be high 40's or 50's, which I will absolutely take.

Yeah, this guy is a major poophead.  Can't believe he pulls this every winter.  Jerk.

Just returned from doing laundry, so best get it all put away.....

Beautiful day.  34ºF, gentle breeze, full sun.  The WMA was great.  Wife found *** willows. I hope they aren't on an endangered list.  Found out something about my wife. After all these years of shopping department stores, jewelry stores, and on line, she announces that she has always wanted a chunk of tree chewed down by a beaver.  My lucky day!!! We just happened to be standing in an area well chewed over by a couple of beaver.  There is enough left to take care of our anniversary, her birthday, and Christmas

Too funny, Doug -- your phrase naming the p-willows got censored!  If you're serious about claiming that chewed log for your wife, how will you get it home?  In pieces, I assume?  Anyway, that blue sky is truly spectacular!  Can't recall when I last saw a sky like that in person!

Glenda, that is totally crummy news about your house/landlord.  You barely got settled there!  I hope you're able to find something you like on such short notice.

Kate, I was the one who first mentioned mint chip ice cream.  I announced my wild Friday night plans of sitting in my sweatpants, watching things on the DVR, eating ice cream.  I love the Oregon brand, Tillamook.  Their mint chip is white, not artificial green.  So good!  Sounds like me, you, and GingerP could enjoy a fun chat while eating some mint chip!

Keep us posted about that Lab, and I'd love to hear how Barcelona was.  I've never been to Spain (isn't that a Three Dog Night song?!), but I would love to go.  I took 7 years of Spanish in school and would love to see the places we learned about in our advanced classes.

Off to run a few errands.  We had a thunderstorm last night -- very unusual here.  The rain sounded like it was coming into the house!

Oh, I'm there! I'll detour so I can stop to get GingerP and we'll be on our way.

I'm guessing the pup will be in charge of that Smile When I had a springer, she loved to "carry" (read "drag";) tree limbs that were at least 3-4 times as long as she was.

Barcelona was great--I need to really go through my pictures to pick out a few to post. I loved Casa Batllo (one of Gaudi's apartment buildings). I think that was my favorite place that I visited. I also visited a monastery in the ritzy part of Barcelona.  The monastery had been there since the 1300 or 1400s, I think, and I think we'd call it a convent (but I'm not positive). It housed the Poor Clare nuns . It was really intense--and the site had a lot of Spanish Civil War history from the 1930s,too, that I now need to study! The words "Silence" and others were painted on the walls of the dining area in the monastery, so no matter where you sat, that's what you'd read. The Poor Clares are still there, but they have lived next door since the 1980s, when they got an updated convent/cloister and the "old" convent/monastery became a museum. The nuns are still cloistered and sit behind a grated wall during Vespers and other services at the church. We have at least one convent of Poor Clare nuns in the Boston area, and they are totally cloistered, too.

It's raining. It's after 6 pm and it's still light out!

Doug, I so much enjoy your stories about Lugnut, love that lol. The pictures are beautiful.

Glena so sorry about the house. :(

I guess this can double as Sunday chat......

    photos.berkshireeagle.com/.../photos-of-toppled-communications-tower-on-florida-mountain

Heres the link for what WAS the FM tower for DH's radio station.  It's under a cell tower.  Heavy wind and rains caused the cell tower to come out of the ground and one in a million hit, the cell  tower hit the broadcast tower in the sweet spot and knocked it down.

    Can't say life is dull......................
