Top of the morning to you!  Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Cold here again today, but then we are supposed to start seeing a warming trend.  Gosh, I sure hope so.  1/2 way through March and we're still dealing with single digit temps.  Enough.

As always, the weekend was far too short, but we got so very much accomplished that this time I don't mind quite as much.  Another busy and crazy day and week.  Off to slay the dragons.

Wishing everyone a touch of the green today.

It's a little chilly here this morning. Nothing like single digits though, so I'm glad of that.

nasty weather here today, again. At least we are hovering around the freezing mark so it isn't ice, yet :(

Had a nice weekend, busy but nice. The place we went to Saturday night was superb. It is in a town that was once glorious. It was big in the cotton industry and tobacco industry and sits right on a major river (Neuse). The downtown area has all those fabulous historic buildings and some gorgeous neighborhoods that seem to VERY slowly being reclaimed. The downtown area is also SLOWLY recovering. This restaurant has been featured in many magazines and it is near a brewery that is fairly up and coming. Apparently there are a few other things opening but overall it still feels like a ghost town with excellent bones.

Yesterday I worked in the yard before the cold and rain hit full on. Planted a few things and moved some soil around. I have to dig a fairly large french drain (is that what they are called?) because the area I am trying to plant keeps flooding. I am happy to report that the moat I dug yesterday (while entertaining B playing tug and tossing his toy while shoveling) is filled with water today so I have the right area targeted.

I have been sleeping very poorly and feel very tired these days. I also feel a huge need to take a break from work but this is where being a contractor makes it precarious. If you aren't available at the moment they need you, you might just be released.

ah well - enough whining from me

Have a good and safe St Patrick's day everyone

Happy St Patricks Day!   Yesterday we had about 2"  of rain, followed by  sleet then 1/2 day of snow and 30 degree temps.  LOL, mother nature just cant seem to make up her mind :).  Karen that is probably the weather you are getting today.  ((Hugs)) for you btw, sometimes a little break can do you a world of good.  Also  sunshine warm temps wouldn't hurt either :)

Jackie I kept waiting yesterday for some southern winds to push back the very cold north winds.....now I see that you must not have had any to spare, lol.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Gin, we got wind for sure.  lol  Too much and it was a cold wind.  At least the sun is out and today the wind is gone.  Heading to the park for lunch.

I'm officially sporting a new tooth, courtesy of a dental implant. It's beautiful and looks perfect! It feels weird to have it in the place where it's been missing since September 2011 (but who's keeping track?).

I think GingerD has an infected molar. She has a vet appointment in the morning.

She also is seriously food aggressive - this weekend she attacked Missy (cat) and nipped a friend's hand over food that wasn't hers or anywhere near her. I will work to manage it but it is stressful, to say the least. Sad

Tina, how nice of GingerD to demonstrate the growing bond between you with a tooth issue of her own.  Wink  I'm guessing it'll involve an extraction if there's a lot of infection, but at least you won't have the added cost of an implant for her.  (Wink, again!)  Congrats on your implant.  You must be so excited to have it done.  I can't believe it's been since Sept 2011!

Speaking of dental, DH begins his major dental work this week.  He is NOT looking forward to a few hours in the chair on Thursday.  I'm already planning to make potato soup for dinner that night.  I don't think he'll be up for much else.

Karen, that town you described sounds so cool.  It's so sad to see once-beautiful and/or historical places in poor condition, and it's so great to see when life is coming back to such areas.  It sounds like a perfect place for lots of unique shops, dining spots, etc.  I think there are so many towns and cities in the U.S. that suffer that kind of blight.  If I were a billionaire and had an emotional connection to a place like that, I'd try to come up with a business plan to help rejuvenate it.

I know this is nit-picking, but technically it's St. Paddy's Day (not Patty's).  The way I remember it is Patty is the female nickname, as in Peppermint Patty from the Peanuts crew.  There's not much of an Irish population here, so the festivities are minimal (no parade).  But with microbrew pubs and taphouses on every corner, I'm sure there will be some celebrating this evening!

Tina, I'm glad your dental visit went well. Sorry to hear that Ginger's got some resource guarding issues to overcome and a bad tooth. Karen, hang in there. Channel your inner Bugsy. No, never mind, one mole eater in the family is enough. :)

Ugh. I had a resource guarded once and it was a pita. Sorry to hear that.

I'm refusing to accept that  spring isn't here yet. Yesterday I went down to my friends cabin and we let the dogs play even though it was roughly 11 degrees.  Abbie actually laid down in a stream. Didn't bother her a bit. Goofy dog.  The dogs were content and happy last night which is awesome.

I picked up layer 2 of the winter dog poop on Saturday. The grass is showing in some parts of the lawn but there's still a good foot of snow in other parts so we need one more good warm up and I should be able to get the last of the clean up done. This year was the worst!

    • Gold Top Dog

"Layer 2 of dog poop."  Let me add this to my list of reasons I'll never live up North.  lol

The cabin trip sounds like it was fun.  Silly Abbie.

    • Gold Top Dog

Dog poop. If you don't get it before the snow melts, all those layers become poop soup.

The resource guarding sucks. GingerD has nothing that is a higher reward than food - even a crumb dropped is "hers". I guess she's going to spend a lot of time on the other side of a baby gate.

    • Gold Top Dog

"Layer 2 of dog poop" and "poop soup" Ick!   I thought our rainy climate made for a messy situation, but it's not THAT bad!  I know it's easy with only 1 dog, but we pick up each poop as it occurs to avoid the mushy results due to constant rain.  Definitely one of the unpleasant parts of pet care!

Resource guarding isn't something I've had to deal with first-hand, but I've got friends who deal with it.  Not fun.  And if GingerD is on a diet, she may be more apt to protect every morsel that comes her way!  I hope managing it isn't too awful, Tina.

Yea, I think that is the only bad part of Spring finally showing up, uncovering the winter's snowed over dog poo.  I was down to the last layer, and going to get it this weekend but everyone ended up being sick.  And today there was a new 5" layer of snow over it all.
