Thus -sunny and cool, but nice

i am starting to run the Lugnut at the local WMA. Lots of room, weeds, brush, deer, birds. He really gets into it. We get back in about a quarter mile from the road, so if no coyotes show up, its safe. His nose works well, and he seems to be developing a taste for deer fewmets. The ground is still frozen, so no mud, and the remaining snow is almost hard enough for me to walk on it.

Pipers remains came back today. I have a nice box I made out of maple and mahogany that holds the remains and will work until the ground is soft enough to dig.

Lugnut has one more puppy class and he gets introduced to water sports. Definitely camera time. They all get to wear life jackets and bob around for a while. Then, we can start some serious training.

Sounds like a good place to train.

I **did** post yesterday but it's not showing up so I haven't a clue what I did wrong.  A young friend of mine online "rescued" a guinea pig from the "snake food" box at a local pet place.  Blossom was a blind piggy -- but Jenna worked with her tirelessly with the clicker and made Blossom all sorts of piggy-sized agility equipment ... even weave poles.  Blossom loved it.  They are incredibly trainable, but rarely do people think to train guinea pigs.

I haven't been able to post much -- work has just been insane.  I missed too much work in 2013 from all the back yuck, so I've really had to keep my nose to the grindstone.

My folks in Jamestown were supposed to get 2 feet of snow yesterday -- when Mom went out in the morning it was raining.  But when she went out at noon for the mail, the driveway had turned to glare ice and the snow was coming down thick and fast.  So she went back for salt hoping she could at least keep what was underneath from being so glassy.  I'm grateful for the neighbors that have tried to be so helpful to my folks and a couple of other advanced seniors on the road.

Cold here today, supposed to be in the mid-40s tomorrow. This has definitely been a bizarre winter.

It always seems so final once our pets' remains are returned to us. ((Doug & family))

Karen, from yesterday, GingerD loves green beans!

Lots of work, lots of stress the past few days. If it weren't so cold outside, I might have a Beer.

I agree, Tina -- when our pets' remains come home to us, it does seem final.  Doug, the wooden box you made sounds like it's too pretty to go in the ground!  But, I guess it's the same as when human remains are buried in beautiful coffins.

Boy, Ruby would go nuts if she could run in a space like the WMA.  She's got to have some kind of sight-hound and scent-hound in her mix, because both senses are always in full gear when she's outside --- especially if the space is new to her.

Callie, that's so sweet about the blind guinea pig who was trained to do agility.  I can just imagine how cute that would be to see.  Your parents sound like my friend's 91-year old Mom.  She lives in the same big house she raised her family in, and she refuses to give up trying to do everything herself (like haul in wood for the fire, get the mail, etc.), even when we had that rare snowstorm last month.  My friend lives in fear of her Mom falling and lying there in agony (or worse) for hours.  She's so stubborn that she won't use that Life Alert service, even though my friend told her she'd pay for it!

I had a doctor's appointment today, and I had to drive down a street that had several flowering plum trees all in a row -- so pretty, all that pink.  We have to enjoy them while we can because as soon as there's some wind and rain, the blossoms fall and we have pink "snow" all over the place.

Definitely NOT nice here today.  Don't think we even got an inch of snow, but enough to make things messy when missed with sleet.  While it is 10 degrees, it feels like -11. The wind is just flat out evil. Tomorrow will be 35, Saturday 43.  Sunday and Monday both pretty nippy, but then back in the upper 30's and 40's again.  Sigh.

    ((((Doug and family))))

We had hamsters when the boys were little.  We "babysat" for the class piggy once and they are cool little critters....don't know why we never got one.  Shoot, we've had everything else!

The feet are wet, so time to change and get some lunch.

Well, check up at the eye doctor went well. Traffic was crazy busy going back to the office. It's Spring break here so maybe that's why. Sunny and nice today. Sorry for those still dealing with the winter that won't end.

Pretty darn chilly here today and VERY windy. Mom's flight was delayed for an hour I think but she's home safe and sound and Bugsy is mourning her departure. Woe is me!

Doug I feel such sadness about Piper but I do love hearing of the pup. I have such puppy fever that I truly enjoy hearing how it's going. I am also amazed that such a young pup can be off-leash somewhere like that. Bugsy still gives me heart attacks off leash LOL

Tina B loves frozen green beans (still frozen) and canned green beans, however he spits out fresh ones or steamed ones. Freak dog!

Jackie glad the eye doctor went well

Theo likes every veggie there is, EXCEPT for green beans of any kind!

Doug, I too love hearing the puppy tales....please keep them coming!

I almost slid into a cop car this morning on my way to work. That would have been a heck of a way to start the day! Good thing I have lots of practice driving in snow and ice this winter and was able to avoid the collision. The funny part was the cop was sitting there at the intersection and there was nothing he could do but watch and hope I didn't hit him. I was going nooooooo! Then relief :)

Does anyone have any sway with mother nature because I'm willing to bribe.

Another month and school is DONE!!!  Got 3 job offers thus far too!

All I need now is some nice weather to do field work in cause being outside in the cold all day troubleshooting SUCKS.

After reading Janice's post about Jessie (in tears) it made me realize how much I miss my girls!

    Anywho, off to bed!

((Doug and Mrs.))  It was a hard day for you, so glad to hear that the pup is carrying on the family tradition.  We really must have some pics of him in the water :)

Oh my Julie so glad you didn't hit the policeman, lol, that would have been a bad day.

Johnny long time no see  I just cant  believe you only have a month left of school.  We have missed you, no one else gives us as much a hard time as you, :)  Good luck with the rest of school and the new jobs.
