    Snowy Sunday chat

I'm typing on the mobile Firefox browser. Will paragraphs work?

Surprise! It's snowing. I know you are all shocked. I mean we have hardly had any snow this winter ;p

abbie is enthralled with dogs 101 on TV. I have never had a dog who watches TV like her. It's entertaining.

We went out on a search yesterday and just as we were getting out of the car they found the guy. Alive too which is great! I was relieved because searching in this weather and snow depth of really challenging and difficult. Mushers secret is my Savior this winter. T

Man this is so buggy. Mobile browsing and this forum are not friends.

Anyway, today is sar building training. Building training is fun. Scent conditions are really tricky in buildings and abbie loves it. It will be heated too. Good thing since it's 13 degrees out. Why do I love in this climate?

Hey Abbie, I like to watch Dogs 101, too!  It is funny when dogs watch TV.  Ruby often stares at the screen when dogs, or other animals, are on it, especially if they're making noises.

Glad the guy was found safe, Julie.  Was it someone who just got lost hiking in the snow or something?  My friends took a walk to the store yesterday (roads are undrivable without traction devices), and they saw a guy walking with long shorts on and his pants near his ankles, picking up snow.  They called the police for a welfare check since they were on foot and couldn't take him anywhere.  He likely came from an adult group home on that road.

So, on top of the foot of snow we had by the time it stopped falling yesterday, we got a layer of ice, thanks to freezing rain and sleet last night.  It's a total mess on the roads since we don't get plowed or sanded except on a few main roads closer to town.  DH made a pot roast and a chocolate cake we've been eating that all weekend, and we're doing lots of indoor things.  I did take a few turns on the sled with the neighbor kids yesterday.  Luckily no broken bones, but my hips were sore from walking in such deep snow!  Ruby had a ball romping in it.  DH made a mound in the yard that she jumped over a few times.

The drive to work May be a problem tomorrow!

Have fun on the building search, Julie.  Glad the guy you went out to search for was found safe.

Tracy, I've been seeing your area's weather on the news and some FB friends photos and WOW!  It's so crazy when no one is used to that kind of weather.  We have only had significant snow a few times.  Every time, our dogs loved it.  I did too because I knew it wouldn't last long and we couldn't get to work. :)

It's gorgeous here today.  Temps in the 60s and lots of sunshine.  I think that's ending next week but that's ok.  We don't have much more winter left and we'll be enjoying spring.

We saw Monuments Men yesterday.  It was entertaining. but not a movie I'd say was a must see.  Wait till it's out on TV.  George Clooney looked good. :)   Cate Blanchett was in it too and she's one of DH's favorites.  We were both happy. lol

I cleaned up the flotsam and jetsam from the backyard and raked mulch.  I can't wait to start doing some gardening.

We took Ruby for a walk just a bit ago, and things are starting to melt now.  The good news is the layer of ice is gone, but the bad news is there's deep slushy stuff in the roads in our neighborhood.  I think it's supposed to stay above freezing from now on, so the roads will be very messy tomorrow, but at least drivable.

Jackie, I watched a Charlie Rose episode on the DVR last night  where he interviewed George Clooney and his writing partner (Grant Heslov) about that movie.  It's a pretty amazing story, and they were talking about what scenes were actually true.  It would've been awful if all those art pieces were destroyed, wiping out the culture of a people, along with all the lives themselves.  I'll have to get it on Netflix sometime.

George Clooney is one of those film industry people who has gotten better with age:  in looks as well as the kind of projects he does.  He seems really smart, more than just a handsome face.

Tracy, I've been watching your weather, too-be careful! I'm glad your friends made the welfare check call--it sounds like the person might have needed some assistance. We had snow and then the freezing rain/sleet here, too, with the last storm. Yuck--it is so much easier to shovel fluffy snow! The icy stuff is a pain.

Jackie, I just can't believe you're already thinking of gardening, but I know it must be close to that time of year for you! Did I also read that someone already had daffodils peeking up? Wow!

Ruby, enjoy the snow! And, Abbie, have fun watching TV :-)  And, I agree-George Clooney has gotten better with age.

Hi, Kate!  Good to hear from you.  I mentioned daffodil greens poking up in our patio pot last week, as well as in some yards on our dog walk route.  I don't know what will happen to them after this snow and ice.  Our evergreen shrubs are all splayed open from the weight on them, and our bamboo is horizontal.  Hopefully things bounce back when it melts and warms up now.

Hard to believe that two weeks ago we were walking on the beach in the sun, about 60 degrees.  But that was unusual, too.  I'm sure we'll have our normal weather this week -- in the 40s, grey, and wet.  I'm glad this weather was mainly on a weekend because it was easy to stay put and enjoy the pretty snow without having to drive to work or anything.

Finally managed to log in.  It's been telling me all day that I don't have a valid account.

That's all I'm gonna say until I'm sure the post wont be another waste of time....

I think daffodils have natural anti-freeze, so they should be OK. Ours are often snowed on and they seem to do fine.

Glenda, I hope your acct is fixed!

    It's snowing again.
