Tuesday (not black, not green - maybe striped??) Callie 12/3

Cathy -- you may not want to do this for a ton of people but at *my* house (as in my folks & me historically) Christmas is always a big rib roast (as in do-it-yourself-prime-rib-at-home??).

I *cover* the outside of it with strips of bacon (pinned on with toothpicks) after I rub pepper in.  I peel onions and put several halves around the roasting pan for flavor

I literally bake it according to my McCalls cook book for a rib roast (we like it med-rare).  The last 45 minutes before it comes out of the oven I put a kielbasa cut in chunks around the edges of the roaster.  it gives it an awesome flavor and then leftovers have more variety.

We do turkey (if home) at Thanksgiving -- but I'm prone to doing turkey thru the year so it's nothing special at Christmas.  I put baby bell mushrooms around the edges too (or at least in the gravy).

Dang - now *I* am hungry.

But Tracy -- pork loin with fig sauce sounds like a recipe at Carrabbas that I absolutely LOVE.  Yum!!

My traditional Christmas meal has been lasagna but I thought maybe I should do something different. I still may do it though.

Tracy - you did send me that recipe and those cornish game hens I bought for Thanksgiving 2012 are still in our freezer. Something went wonky last year and I've just never had the right occasion to cook them yet. I'm gonna though....one of these days soon :)

Pork loin would be great if ham is off the table. I love both :)

So doc says ear and sinus infection. Funny I had no idea I had an ear infection. The sinus infection I had already guessed. I am just glad that I don't feel all that bad really. Or I should say I could be worse. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick it in the butt before I fly out.

Nice job on the wreath Cathy. :)  I have a few wreaths somewhere.

Julie, you are a rock star.  Hope your sinuses get better before you have to fly home.

I can't believe you guys are already planning your Christmas dinners.  Overachievers, all of you. lol

I'm just trying to get through this holiday season with my blinders on.  I wish it were already over.

    It's 82 here today.

My email has been fixed.  It was fixed overnight so I had a ton of emails to deal with this morning that weren't able to be delivered yesterday.

I'm with you, Jackie.  The only reason DH brought up the dinner menu is because we want to be prepared with a plan for when my MIL asks us if we want to eat at the retirement home on Christmas.  We've done that a few times -- never again.  No surprise, the food is not very good (nothing too spicy, salty or rich for those elderly diets, and there's 20 minutes between "courses" by the time they serve each table in the dining room).  And there's always "entertainment," which is usually a guy singing to a karaoke-type machine, and the songs are themed, depending on the holiday.  You should've heard the set list on Mother's Day.  Tongue Tied

Julie, I'm glad you saw the doctor and got the powerful meds!  How long until you have to fly?  Hopefully the worst of your symptoms will be behind you by then.

Haha Jackie. I think you're a rock star too ;p

I fly home on Fri. So that gives me a couple days for the meds to start working. Kinda wish I was flying home today though given that we are about to get pounced with up to 2 ft of snow and the high temp for the next few days is going to be 8 degrees! I think I might drive South to Texas ;p
