    Monday chit chat 11-25

    Morning!

So, this 5% humidity garbage is for the birds. My skin is going to be all shriveled up from lack of moisture by the time I'm done with this assignment. And my nose ugh! I am on a first name basis with saline spray. I can't even wear my contacts! There must be a happy medium somewhere in this country where it's not too humid and not too dry. I washed my clothes last night and hung them up to dry in the hotel room and was actually able to sleep the entire night without waking up because the air had some humidity in it. Most nights I wake up practically gasping for some moisture, then have to use nasal spray and run the hot shower before I can get back to sleep. The hotel doesn't have any humidifiers :(

ok enough of the complaining. Everything else is going great. I'm heading back up to Estes Park today for work. Time to put on my fed hat and get out of weekend vacation mode. It was a great weekend.

It is cold. I need one of these: Paradise

Julie, maybe you could go to a Target or WalMart and pick up one of those little humidifiers to run at night.  I have a few and I think they cost around $15.00.

Cold and rainy here too but not worth complaining about since our cold weather is pretty wimpy compared to many areas.

Julie, I hate that kind of dryness, too.  We've got family in Wyoming, and they have the same complaints.  Between hair and skin and nasal passages drying out, it's not a pleasant thing!  I second the idea of one of those mini humidifiers.   They've got lots of very small ones for using on an office desk and whatnot.  It would be worth the expense!

Tina, as I drove by my neighbors' house this morning, temperature about 29 degrees, I thought of them enjoying the warm waters of islands near Indonesia.  They left last week on a scuba diving vacation . . . I'm not a diver, but I'm sure I could find other ways to enjoy the tropical spots!

The weekend flew by, as usual.  Saturday night my friend and I went to see Brandi Carlile -- she was performing with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra.  I love her with just her 3 bandmates, but holy cow were the arrangements amazing with the orchestra behind her.  Something about a great voice backed up by a ton of violins . . . talk about goosebumps.

We were in the VERY last row, but it was still an excellent show.  The theatre seats about 2500, and it's acoustically perfect, so every seat is good (especially since I brought binoculars).  In fact, for one song, she stood on the edge of the stage and sang without microphones or any music other than a guitar, and we could hear her perfectly way up in the rafters.  She said she couldn't be in such an ideal venue and not take advantage of it by doing one song that way.  Amazing.  If you don't know her original stuff, here's a version of "Hallelujah" -- the Leonard Cohen song, covered by many people.  This version with the orchestra is beautiful:  http://vimeo.com/77662295

Here's one of her original songs:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYyn2rZ_QYI

I've got a lot to do if I want to take Friday off, so I better get to it!

    hey ladies!!

Julie - buy the cheap humidifier for nighttime and try the gel I posted on FB

It was 19* in Raleigh and our thermometer said 15* this morning. Freaking cold but we only have this on occasion so I can live. Bugsy is thrilled. I cannot understand how a dog with such a short coat and mostly bare belly can find cold weather so fabulous. But he does :)

I was thinking, as I took him on a frigid walk this morning, with him out in front and half a step away from pulling that perhaps he's part husky/sled dog LOL I mean 8 yrs of trying every device and training idea to get him to not be out in front, half a step from pulling has failed. Well I suppose he IS HALF A STEP from pulling as opposed to pulling. *insert eyeroll*

Work continues to be NUTS. This pace is killer. I did get an automated email saying I was extended to the end of April which is good however it's not good if I die from exhaustion LOL

I am hoping to do very, VERY little over the long weekend.

OK back to what I should be doing!

Aaron turned 1 this weekend Big Smile  And got to "celebrate" by a trip to the Drs office Sad  Turns out he has an ear infection in both ears.  We knew something was wrong, but I thought it was something w/ his sinus' or tear ducts.  I had called the Drs. office on Wed and they said it was probably a blocked duct and should clear up in a few days.  We actually almost didn't take him, b/c when we woke up on Sat he didn't look as bad.  I'm glad now we did, just wish we would have done it sooner.  But you wouldn't have known from his disposition anything was wrong, and he never once made an indication that his ears were bothering him.  Started some antibiotics and are seeing less mucus, so it seems to be doing the trick.  Since he didn't have a fever they also gave him a flu shot.  Happy Birthday Indifferent His real party is Friday, so hopefully he'll be feeling pretty good by then.

He's been working on walking, I'll have to try and get a video.

After lunch I started feeling bad, but not quite bad enough that I feel comfortable going home, but blech...

I feel like I've rambled enough for one post, I hope everyone is doing well.

Julie, your weekend sounds like a blast (except for the super low humidity) glad to hear the dogs are doing pretty well.

Callie, glad to read (from a few days ago) that you are starting to feel better and not seeing major side effects from that medicine.

Glenda, all that cooking sounds delicious, I should try to talk DH into a Thanksgiving road trip Stick out tongue

So sorry Aaron is sick.  Poor little guy.

And, the more the merrier at my table...I always cook too much!

Steph, I hope your little doodle keeps improving.  I can't believe he's already a year old.  How did that happen?!  He is so adorable.  I hope you're not getting sick.

Karen, Rex and Belle love the cold weather too.  This morning I could hardly get them inside when it was time for me to leave.  They were both muddy messes and it took me ten minutes to clean them off enough to let them back inside.  Gabby prefers nice weather.  I do think she picked that up from Twister. lol  She's happy to stay indoors when the weather is nasty.

Tracy that concert sounds fantastic.  I haven't had a chance to listen to the songs you posted yet but I will.

The rain is supposed to move out tomorrow.  It will warm up too which will be great.

Work today was terrible.  Phone ringing off the wall.  No one with a brain or willing to use it.  I was ready to blow a gasket or cry by the time I left.  I come home and the dogs are raring to go so I went outside and we played and played.  We all felt better afterwards.  The drink I had may have helped too. :)

I have everything for a small Thanksgiving dinner except the turkey.  I need to get on that.  lol   I like to buy a fresh turkey but the two places I tried on Sunday only had giant birds.
