    Wednesday Chat 11-6-13

Well, not much to report here. The weather is changing from warm and muggy to cooler with some rain.

I had a dentist appointment this morning.  My teeth are nice and clean and no problems found.  Exciting, eh? lol

Tonight I'm going to a short dog training seminar.  DH is going with me.  This should be interesting. lol

I guess we're not a terribly exciting group today....amazing that chat got started so late.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yes, fewer and fewer seem to be participating due to the new and not so improved forum.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, they seem to have forgotten us and it seems that the forum is still in beta.  The biggest thing I dislike is having to log in every single time I want to post.  Major PITA, especially when I'm on the fly.

I've always been a proponent on the KISS system of engineering everything.

I now live in a white world.  Heavy snow last night, but now it is melting.  Bearly got to practice my icy driving or the MN two step ( a technique for not falling on ice).  Anyway, Cold enough for ya?  Uff da!!   I got to work outside today with power tools and water.  I may be able to use my hands again tomorrow.

My maple trees seem to be trying to drop their leaves.  With a good wind, my neighbor may get to vacuum his yard again.

Ouch. Harsh words folks. A few things:

    1. We haven't gone away. We just had quite a few things to fix and that's taken quite a bit of time.

    2. Major improvements are on the way. We're just testing them right now.

    3. We've now got a community manager that I'll be introducing to you all *soon*, so she will be able to hear your concerns and address what we can.

    4. Once the improvements are finished, we'll be sharing a full update on what's going to happen.

As for the login issue, this is frustrating for us too. I've asked for this to be looked at again.

So major improvements are on the way and we'll be sharing updates very shortly.

    Jonathan

Harsh words?  Goodness, I was being nice!  But then, my tendency is to be blunt and not beat around the bush.  A periodic appearance would help, I think.  I can't believe that I'm the only one that feels like I got tossed overboard without a life jacket!

I was kidding! Us Brits are terribly thin-skinned, you know! We'll be spending a lot more time here. We just wanted to fix what needed fixing. I'm excited to share the updates with you. J

Aw, geeze.  Still haven't gotten over that little Boston tea party, eh?

I'm going to agree with Doug.  KISS!  Not all of us were born with a computer mouse clutched in our hands so the more user friendly, the better.

I skipped out early at work because the weather is so fantastic.  Got home and opened up the windows and doors to let the fresh air inside.  Belle decided I needed a few more gray hairs and took off out the front door.

She ran down the street (across yards, not in the street, thank doG) and as I walked toward her a female pit bull approached. It was obvious from her body posture that she was friendly.  After some butt sniffing and circling all was good.  I could hardly get Belle to follow me home.  She wanted to play with her new friend.  Amazing how much better reactive dogs are when they're off leash and on neutral territory.

Mind sending some of that fantastic weather this way Jackie? Ours is hide under the flannel covers worthy. Wet wet and more wet with some cold end for good measure.

I keep thinking it is 1 day later than it is and every time I realize the actual day I feel disappointed heh. Like reading today's title as wed I felt let down it wasn't Thurs! I'm working for the weekend this week.

Today was a long day. I keep getting up before my normal time because of the time change. You all know I am not a morning person so just imagine how happyI am to wake up at 6!

That's funny, Julie -- I told a couple people today that I kept thinking it was Thursday, too!  It's been a very busy week at work, and along with the time change and foggy, rainy, cold weather, I'm feeling like I already put in 5 days!

Jackie, I would've been in a total panic!  I'm so glad she kept out of the roadways, and more importantly that the other dog was friendly.  I often wonder if Ruby's bad behavior when we walk and see other dogs would be greatly reduced if she weren't on a leash.  She'd still create problems because she is a "pushy" greeter, which tends to tick off some dogs she meets.

Jonathan, it's nice to hear from you and know that things are still being worked on.  I agree with Glenda -- a periodic update, even if it's just a weekly post to say "Hi all -- we're still making progress!" or something like that would help reduce some of the frustrations or "feelings of abandonment."  :-)

Doug, I cannot believe you've got snow already . . . and with leaves still on the maple trees!  I did have to chuckle at your "MN two-step" reference.  I bet that's a skill many residents master in your area!

We had another conference call with the consultant for our not-so-new-anymore software system.  It's a good thing she's patient, because she must think I'm incredibly stupid, still struggling with some things!  Sometimes you just can't teach an old dog new tricks (another way of echoing Glenda's comment about not all of us being born with a mouse in our hands)!

Thank you Tracy!  I'm not ancient but geeze, I learned to type on a MANUEL typewriter!  I'm pretty good on computers, but it's a stretch for me to learn all kinds of new stuff.  I learn it, because I like to learn and to grow, but, gosh, sometimes at the office, dealing with younger folks who just zip around on the computers, I feel ancient and a bit dumb!  The one thing that saves me is having a much younger coworker who is worse than me on the computers, and I've actually taught him a lot.

So yeah...having a new learning curve in my "play space"......doesn't give me the warm fuzzies!
