    It's Tuesday, Right? 11/5/13 Chat (Deb W.)

I'm a little confused since I was in training last Thursday and Friday and I took yesterday off to take my hot, itchy mess of a dog to the Vet.

At my seminar, I learned how to be a LEADER and not just a mere manager.  I also learned how to be a VISIONARY and to not get caught up in putting out fires all day.  In addition, i learned how to CHALLENGE my employees to SET DIRECTION, MOBILIZE OTHERS and to FOCUS FOWARD.

At the Vets, I learned how to get my dog to stop scratching his ass.

Puts in all perspective, doesn't it ???

The question is, with all these newly learned skills, will you be able to get your employees to stop scratching their asses?

    Big SmileTina, that was hilarious!!

Deb, I've always thought that working for you would be fun (a boss with a great sense of humor AND bartending talents?!), but now that you know how to do all those amazing things, I'm going to send you my resume, STAT!

For the record, I don't think I've ever had a boss who was capable of the things covered in that seminar.  Have any of you?

I broke down and put a turtleneck on today.  I figure it's okay since it's after November 1st.  DH calls me "Nanuk from the North," because I always bundle up in heavy clothes with minimal skin showing, but it was chilly when I got up this morning!

Of course I will, Tina.   I attended the Butt Scratching and Scooting Techniques seminar last year.

Feels like I haven't been here for weeks but it's only been a few days. I couldn't handle the wonkiness over the weekend and just quit trying.

Tracy - I've never worked for anyone who had the skills Deb mentioned either. I'm sending her my resume too :)

I took the plunge and pulled off all the ugly grasscloth wallpaper in my formal dining room. I was super excited when I was able to grab pieces and just pull towards the ceiling and it would come off easily. It didn't take too long before I realized that it was leaving the soft, furry backing on the wall. I've asked some folks who know about this stuff and done some reading and it seems I'll need to get that all off. The room has massive vaulted ceilings, so I'll need to be on a ladder for a good part of it and I hate being on a ladder for even a minute. I'm not sure what I'm going to do but for now I'm just averting my eyes when I walk by :(

On a happier note, our new blinds are being installed today. I can't wait to get home and see how they look. We had a few windows that had no covering, so it'll definitely be nice having something on them now.

Deb in my lifetime I have been to many of those training sessions/seminars.  Now that I am older they either think I am untrainable or dont want to spend any $$$ teaching the old dog new tricks, lol.   Tina lmao .. my thoughts exactly.  Huh?

Speaking of dogs, is there anything new you learned about scratching dogs?  Rocky is just miserable and I have run into a couple of people that are having more trouble this year.  Is there a secret to helping them be more comfortable?

Jackie so glad to see that Gabby is finally getting some pampering, Stick out tongue

Glenda hows the move coming along?

Tracy I cant stand the cold, problem is when I start layering I will inevitably get hot flashes and I have to de-layer (if that is a word) by the time I cool back down I am really tic'd off and my attitude stinks, lol.  Much rather have flowers blooming and birds singing........tweet tweet tweet, Smile

Cathy I do not envy you with the wallpaper detail.  I do not like wallpaper and that is why.  I have moved into homes with wallpaper and it is not fun to strip.  I would much rather paint.

I'm not a wallpaper fan either.  It's too hard to change it when you want to update a room's look.  Slapping on a new color of paint is much easier.

I've seen some wallpaper in homes that make me wonder what the heck someone was thinking when they chose it.  The house my SIL and BIL bought many years ago had wallpaper in a bathroom that looked like old-fashioned newsprint, with ads for Victorian era products and things.  It was horrible.

When we had to rent a house for a while several years ago, we painted right over the wallpaper in a couple rooms.  The house was already in horrible shape (example:  a prior tenant used a SAW to cut out part of a cabinet so their fridge would fit in the space). We weren't about to take the time to pull off the wallpaper and prep the walls when we would live there only a year.  One bathroom had blue wallpaper with the signs of the zodiac (in silver and gold) all over it.  Surprise

Gin, I'd take him to the vet and get him some prednisone.  Also give him Benadryl every day.  1mg per lb of body weight.  This is what my vet always did for Twister when his allergies were bad.  This was the only thing that ever helped.  All the home remedies never worked. There is also a good shampoo the name of which I can't recall right now.  It has hydrocortisone in it.  I'm sure there are many brands of this type. Give him fish oil daily if you don't already.  I was told to start the Benadryl at the first sign of itchiness and keep it up, daily, until allergy season is over.  For Twister that was Spring and Fall.

Busy day.  Mostly wasting time on FB. :)  I did get some work done but not as much as I should have.

Deb was the star student in my Ass Scratching and Butt scooting seminar a few years ago.  She could teach it herself now. :)

Hi everyone.  Finally dragging myself here.  Lordie work keeps me hopping!  And, with so little voice, I'm not making phone calls hardly at all, so it's all in person.

Ginger, the moving is relegated to the weekends.  We've been totally in the new house since Oct 28th.  Last weekend I did a lot more settling and all that's really left to square away the basement.  That's on tap for this weekend.  I did go back Wed for the septic inspection, which failed miserably.  But,  on a brighter note I sold the inspector a quarter page color ad every week  for a year starting in January.  Because the owners are not local, the realtor did the final inspection so I can get my deposit back and we had that on Friday.  Passed with flying colors which is nice since I finished cleaning at something like 2:30 in the morning!

I feel rather badly for the owners since they are now having to sell at a substantial loss and having to pray for a cash buyer since no bank will lend on a failed Title 5 inspection.  Really a shame since they are really nice people.

Off to start the second job....dinner, so I can get some work related emails out tonight.
