    Sunny Sunday 9-22-13

This is my 1st time for starting a thread, so hope it works.

It's sunny but only in the mid-50s this morning. We got nearly an inch of rain yesterday and I think we might've broken the record for rainfall in Sept. We usually don't see any rain until October but it was a nice change.

Shane is doing better but still not back to his old self. DH gave him some milk yesterday and this morning he had diarrhea. Poor boy had to have his hind end rinsed off and wasn't too happy about it. He's zonked out on a blanket next to me now.

Not much else going on here. I hope everyone is having a great Sunday.

Cathy, I'm glad you got some rain.  I'm not glad to hear Shane is still not back to his old self.  Hoping that he will keep improving.  Poor boy.  Dirty, poopy butt washes are not fun for the dog or the humans.  My dogs don't get the runs from a little milk.  They always get a few licks of milk that I leave in the bowl after my cereal.  If I forget they are all mighty upset at my selfishness. lol  Hope his diarrhea is over.  Some dogs are very sensitive to cow's milk or so I've heard.

Beautiful, beautiful weather here.  Blue Fall sky and coolish (for here) and low humidity.  It's just way to pretty to be inside doing chores but that's what's on my agenda today.

Belle is barking to be let outside so she can go and hunt something that's been coming in the yard at night.  I can tell some critter has been in the yard by the way she tracks the scent in the mornings.

Julie, good luck on the search.  I hope you don't need that bear spray.  Your second hand store finds make me want to visit a few before cooler weather gets here to see if I can find some bargains.  If only I didn't hate clothes shopping so much.

Off to get busy with cleaning this filthy house.

Its ridiculously lovely weather Big Smile

I took Bugsy for a long walk this morning, it was our lake day but he was so tired from yesterday i thought better of it.  We saw a few different folks and dogs out so he was thrilled!

I've been cleaning in between watching my teams get beat Tongue Tied The Giants are so horrible its shocking.

Yesterday I took B to meet some friends and their dog at an AKC Responsible Owner day - it was great. Hard work for me because Bugsy wants to say hi to just about every dog and every human. He just cracks me up in that he is so non-plussed by snarly little dog or ginormous dogs. And of course every lab, golden, weim, vizsla, gsp and mixes he wants to play with and its mutual. Funny stuff.

After being there for 90 minutes or so we headed into town and hung out at our pub with the outside patio, always a fun time and all the better to have time with my friends and their dog.

Cathy I hope Shane is doing better - Bugsy gets milk regularly and loves it - DH says he's a little kitty hahahaha He has no negative effects but I have heard that it can upset some dogs. My guess its more to do with the antibiotics :(

OK I had best go do something to help prep this filthy place for my mom's visit

I just looked up Clindamycin and diarrhea is a very common side effect, so maybe that's what this is from. I'd given it to him daily starting on Wed. though and hadn't had any problems. I guess it could've taken this long to show up. If it is from the antibiotic, is there anything I can do to counteract it? I'm almost afraid to let him out to potty again. Guess I'll take some old towels with me just in case. I've already had towels and blankets everywhere because of the bleeding, so at least I can direct him to one of those when he comes in.

Karen - I missed that your mom was coming to visit again. How long will she be there for?

I need to get outside and enjoy this day too. I really want a nap but maybe I'll perk up from the sunshine.

Thinking "no bear" thoughts for Julie.

    CAKANA ........

1 rounded teaspoon or so of plain pumpkin .........

should help with the gut irritation..........

a multistrain probiotic ( ex: Philips Colon Health ... available just about anywhere ) would help ..... also ........

because of the stripping of good gut bacteria from the antibiotic ...........

i give my crew the probiotic with OIKOS greek yogurt

Thanks! I have been giving him some greek yogurt this week and he's been on a 2x a day probiotic/digestive enzyme since shortly after I adopted him. He had chronic loose stools and the probiotic cleared it right up, so I've just kept up with it. I gave him an extra 1/2 a pill this morning and so far the tummy is calm.
