Agility with Corey

Hi Maureen!  I made the mistake of clicking on the video before turning the sound down a bit, and the barking woke up Ruby --- she leapt off the couch and ran to the door barking (where she goes when she hears the neighbors' dog bark).  Oops!  :-)

I took Ruby to a very basic intro agility class (4 weeks - just doing one or two obstacles at a time).  Knowing how hard it was to keep her focused for a couple obstacles, I'm amazed and awed by dogs like Corey running the course like that --- even with a boo boo!  I thought you both did a great job.

I'll show the video to my husband tomorrow when Ruby isn't sleeping!

Oops, sorry Ruby that Corey disturbed your sleep. The trick is lots of treats for each individual obstacle for starting out. Ruby is a zoomie dog isn't she? Well that zoomie's can be used to your advantage, you just have to channel it in the right direction. They really learn to absolutely love it.

One of the things I really like about agility is how the crowd gets so involved, for anyone's and everyone's dog.  When Corey took a wrong jump, with only one jump to go, the crowd being so involved in the run, gave their big AH. Doesn't matter if you are competing against them or not. We all cheer or find ourselves giving big sighs of AH for everyone. The last jump he took, he wasn't supposed to take and so it was an off course which is an elimination. You get no score for the run. .
