    Sunday chat

I've given up on sleeping.  I'm going through a "restless at night/weird dream" stage and this morning when I got up for the bathroom there was a weird strobe like flash coming in the bathroom window.  By the time I investigated and realized it was just a security light burning out I was too awake to curl back up.  Thankfully it's Sunday and I don't have to go anywhere or act like my brain is functioning!  Still, it ticks me off to have anything disturb my sleep...even if it's my own brain.  That might be even worse! Embarrassed

I'm amazed at the tough fighting spirit of folks in NJ. Twice now that area has been devastated and yet these folks keep fighting their way back.  The news last night said this is being treated as a potential arson.  Wow.  If that's the case I sure hope they catch whoever started it and "toast his chestnuts" (trying to keep it clean)

The situation in Colorado seems to just keep getting worse too. So sad.  Thoughts and prayers for those folks as well.

I'm thinking I need to hook up an IV for the coffee.  Drinking it doesn't seem to be waking the old bod up.

Hope everyone has a great day!

David and I had a blast having lunch  yesterday with Steph and Chad and Hannah and baby Aaron (I swear that boy is going to play tackle on some football team -- it is *not* a small boy LOL).  Hannah is a total sweetheart.  It was SO nice to see Steph and meet the whole family (we'd met Chad before but not both kids).  I wish we lived closer -- I could really get into this "being an honorary "aunt" stuff LOL.

I can't even imagine arson on that kind of scale -- all the jobs and businesses -- how unbelievable.

Hello! Is anyone coming here anymore?

I'm exhausted. Work travel last week. Camping Fri and Sat. Then a search for a missing child all day (in the cold rain). Talk about a lot of ups and downs!

I think it is time to get the fleece sheets and winter comforter out. I already turned the furnace back on. Booo!

I really wish each post was TIME stamped, along with the date.  I know it's a bit late on the east coast, and before I posted something, it would be helpful to know if Julie's post was many hours ago or just a couple.  On the old forum, sometimes when I could see that no one had posted since afternoon, for example, I might not post after a certain time at night here on the west coast.

Callie, sounds like you had a fun visit with Steph and her family.  You're lucky to have had a chance to meet a few fellow iDoggers!

I've been busy with my Mom and her friend since their arrival on Tuesday.  We spent a couple nights in central Oregon -- hot, sunny, dry days, cool nights.  Enjoyed the Ponderosa pines, saw some deer, spent time in the hot tub.  Ruby was exhausted when we got home yesterday.  So many new sounds and smells!  We had an outdoor lunch at a brew pub that was dog-friendly, and she was miraculously well behaved, despite 2 dogs being at nearby tables.  I think the food on our table was her main focus, and maybe she didn't act territorial because it was a totally new place for her.

Fall is in the air here -- cool, cloudy, some sprinkles.  DH has a pot roast in the oven that's making our mouths water.  I'm eating too much and not the healthiest of options, but that's how it goes with houseguests!

Edited to add:  Glenda, as someone who has frequent sleeping trouble, I can totally sympathize with your problems last night!

Mmm pot roast. One of my favorites! I am also jealous of your hot tub fun! Especially right now Nothing benter than a hot tub soak on a cold wet night. I really need to get mine working again.

I also understand the sleep troubles.
