    Back to school Tuesday 9-3-13

hmm there must be some different settings between my computer and my phone because i don't see the sticky note format on my phone but do on my computer. Gotta figure that out as that sticky note format is confusing. Also, when you add content you add forum post add blog post or some other option? confusing.

Anyway, today is back to school day for all the kiddos in MI. It is fun to see all the photos on fb and hear stories of how each kid is handling it.

I'm working from home today, thank god. It is nice and quiet and the weather is cool and sunny. My pressure cooker head needs this. Tomorrow at the office will be insane I am sure. There are some meetings going on about potentially raising the speed limits. I scoffed at the idea as in no way that will happen (it's talked about every couple of years or so) but this time it might actually have some traction. Will be interesting to see what comes of it. It is one thing if the road is designed for the higher speed limits. It is another if the road is not.

Back to school for the Bean today! Kindergarten here is all day, every day. I think it's a bit too much for a 5 year-old, but I know she'll do great. It was half days when I was a young'n. She was nervous this morning but didn't cry. I hope she's having fun!

Jano, I'm sure Willa is having fun! She'll be okay.

Julie, I'm always amazed at the possibility of raising the speed limit. I guess 70 mph isn't fast enough. Many drive 5-10 mph over that anyway. I personally don't feel terribly safe going much over about 75.

I worked all weekend and the weather was not close to what was predicted any of the 3 days. Yesterday I froze my butt off in shorts and a t-shirt. It was warmer when I got up at 6:00a than at 2:00p.

No huge mountain of work yet, but tomorrow will be another story.

Julie, I just read on yesterday's chat about your post asking on here about other good dog forums and it being 'disappeared'.  hmm  That seems kind of paranoid of dog.com if that's why your post was removed.  I wouldn't mind hearing from dog.com about it.

My weekend was pretty unexciting.  I grilled on Sunday and Monday and now we have yummy leftovers for lunches for a few days.

It was super hot all weekend and with DH being deathly ill with his man cold we didn't do anything fun.

Apparently my parents had a cookout for Labor Day.  I found out b/c this morning I read about it on FB.  That stuff happens so much I feel like I should be past being bothered by it, but I'm not.

But some of our friends had a picnic on Sunday and seemed to be glad we were there, and then one of them invited me to use their guest pass at the gym w/ them yesterday (I am so sore), and another friend watched the kids so we could go out to dinner for our anniversary.  Which is all to say, I am blessed and will try to focus on that stuff instead.

Poor Hannah, I am sure she is going to be totally over babies (not necessarily a bad thing ;) ) by the time Aaron is a toddler.  She was watching him while I got a shower this morning and he had, what we like to call a "poop-splosion" and the diaper did not begin to contain it.  They were both covered and she was not impressed.  Though after I got everything de-pooped she seemed to be handling it well.  She has every intention of reminding him that this happened at the very least convenient time for him when he gets older.  She actually said she wished we'd have taken a picture so she would have proof.  Ah... such a good sister ;)

I hope Willa has a great first day!

    Happy first K-Day, Willa!

Little Man's class has new teachers, some new students and his backpack hook is in a different place.  The last bit threw him into a bit of anxiety and I got lots of hugs and put lots of kisses in his pocket for him.

We had my BFF, her hubby and two young kids with us all weekend.  I quickly forgot how good LM is with the dogs when her 4 yr old didn't like them.  Sigh.

The whole visit was a really, really good one and we all had a great time.  We have a local Renaissance Festival which is what they drive 7 hrs for, LOL.  On their way here border crossing took 8 minutes, on the way home it was 1 hr, 55 minutes.  Ouch!

Back to work - new projects started today.  Yay!

Oh so busy today Crying and I'm really stressing about being gone on vacation again starting next week. I'll only be missing 3 days of work but it'll still be a mess when I come back. It just seems so busy all the time lately and the working 1/2 time continues to be a challenge.

I'm using the rich text formatting for the 1st time and like it better so far. Hoping the paragraphs will show up.

DH went out early this morning to turn on the pool sweep and said he stepped right over a rattlesnake. He said it was small (about a foot long) and coiled but sleepy. He used a shovel to carry it to our green waste can which was being picked up in just a few min's. The can is huge and he said it dropped to the bottom but I'm still not sure that was the best idea. Tossing it anywhere in our area wouldn't have been good either, so I guess killing it would've been the best idea but he didn't want to do that either. Geesh, between the bats and now a snake, it's starting to feel like we live in the woods or something. Hmm

Good thoughts for Willa and LM today at school. I ran across something the other day from when I was in kindergarten. It had the morning and afternoon schedule and both were 2 1/2 hrs long. Crazy to think of a wee one going all day but then all we had to do was color, eat paste and take a nap each day Big Smile

Oh, here's an improvement!  I don't have to hit post reply before it lets me type.....on the other hand, when I logged in I somehow managed to "mute" so I won't get notifications??  Will have to figure out how to undo that.

Cathy, I would have totally freaked!  And no, the trash can probably wasn't the best choice for a live snake.  Just the thought a a live slithery thing gives me the heebie jeebies!

Fabulous first day at the new job!  Tools, toys, all the goodies to make life easier!  Oh, and lots of PRAISE from the boss.....unheard of in the last job, unless it came from me to my staff.

Hello. Just to be very clear. Our policy is to moderate user comments just like any other community. But we will only remove a post if it is against the Terms and Conditions of this site or could be deemed to incite or involve an illegal or immoral act. Julie, we would love it if you would stick with us as we continue to improve the performance and also the way you use the site. Of course, this is a new site, so if someone was being overzealous with their moderation I will address this. I suspect it was more likely to be a small bug and if this is the case, it will have been fixed by the latest release.

In general, it would be great if you could keep feeding back to us on what you like and what you don't like about the new format. We are in the late stages of agreeing a series of major improvements, which I will be listing here soon. Keep watching. Jonathan
