Sunny saturday

    Sunny saturday

Pretty quiet around here lately! I am dying a slow annoying death by allergies / sinuses. I sure hope it is resolved by tomorrow No flat tires yesterday so all your pleas to the tire gods must have worked. I need to go shopping today both for clothes and dog food. The dog food is a half hour away and not easy to get to. Hate that.

Took Luke and the puppy out to your dog is worth it too preview day. They had fun, and more importantly, they're tired. The damn puppy keeps having diarrhea, and getting up at night every two hours. I need to try feeding him earlier.

In other news, my sister in Florida had a baby. That situation is a mess. The baby is being held hostage by the hospital probably illegally, but I won't get into details. My mom is a poor liar, so I've known about this for months despite not actually being told.

Julie, I hope your allergies go away soon.

It's hot. The weather peeps keep saying we have a chance for rain and a cool off to the upper 90's or at least only 100. lol   I washed my filthy car and did a half assed job of cleaning the inside.

I need to go get my hair trimmed.  I'm trying to keep up with it rather than letting it get so shaggy.

Jen, I'm sorry the pup has diarrhea.  Also sorry to hear about more family drama.  That's one reason I avoid much contact with some of my family members.  They thrive on drama and the drama that follows their own bad decisions.  I've got no patience for that kind of behavior anymore.  I speak my mind and of course that's not appreciated.

My dogs are all laid out flatter than pancakes.  They got to play earlier in the yard and now are happy to lay around like hounds under a porch.  Except they choose tile floors in the air conditioning. lol

It's such a mess. They were basically all ready to let them go home last night, then came back and said they can't take her. Now they're playing more games. What the hospital is doing is illegal, whether I think my sister belongs having a kid or not. Of course, being as this is the weekend, it's not really possible to get a hold of anyone to help them. anyway, I am admittedly conservative on this, but I don't think you should have kids with the plan of raising them on the government dole.

Greetings!  Absolutely wonderful weather today.  Guess we are being rewarded for yesterdays truly crappy rain.  This has really been one wierd summer.  Too much rain in June, too much heat and humidity in July......August seems kind of normal, but I sure don't appreciate the humid days.

Jen?  You might try a little pumpkin for the pup if he's been vet checked.  Or even smaller, more frequent portions.  And man, can't even begin to comment on your sister.  I will say however, that medical facilities are charged with reporting any situation that could endanger the welfare of a child and maybe that's what is going on.  But, again, I don't know so shouldn't say anything at all.  Will send out prayers and vibes that everything turns out for the best.

I've been incredibly lazy so far today.  Got a couple loads of laundry out on the line and picked the garden, but that's been it.  I'm finally at the point where I'm taking at least part of the weekend OFF and by golly, I'm going to enjoy some of it.  I work too hard all week to work hard all weekend as well.  Boy, does that sound self indulgent!

Suppose I should go get my errands out of the way......

Glenda, when pressed for a reason, the one they actually gave was illegal. They kept making up medical excuses that weren't true, then admitted to a reason that isn't a legal. The person she sees regularly saw no issue, nor did the state program they're already enrolled in. I can't say too much because of the legal stuff.

I need to defrost some pumpkin for this guy. I haven't given him anything but his food. I haven't done anything with him since the first day because his stomach was off. Maybe it's my water, or maybe he is this way regularly from eating crap food. I didn't do anything with that because he's not here long enough.

Sounds like a mess. I hope everyone has the best interest of the newborn in mind

Having had a fairly mild summer - extremely wet but not hot for here - today is making up for it. Good gracious its hot and humid today. You sweat at any attempt of movement

I took Bugsy on his versatile gun dog training day and he did GREAT!! I think I'll describe it as he arrived as the ugly duckling (what kind of dog is that? He's huge. do you think he's a pit mix?) and left as the star of the show LOL. I won't go into a ton of details but he did an AWESOME retrieve of a live duck, which was a heck of a chase for a long period of time, but he came back with the duck nicely held and gave it to me immediately. Of course the last bit was mostly because he was exhausted hahahaha It was the first time he'd been around live shotgun fire and I was just super proud.

Anyway it was a great start to the day except for the oppressive heat and humidity.

I started some cleaning for the houseguests and got rid of some stuff and now am going to attempt to stop sweating for a little bit before showering.

I have a load of paperwork to do but I think I'll leave that until tomorrow.

They got her home. They still have to follow up with someone on Monday about the hospital illegally keeping the baby, cause the hospital will have repercussions for it.

Everyone has so many things going on and right now I feel like a nurse at County General Hospital!

I put up more beans this morning. I look at them and remind myself we love garden beans, and there is maybe only one more picking to go.  I asked my DH why it seems I am doing all the picking, snapping and blanching, he told me because I have the green thumb!

Abby is home, and I am over whelmed, I feel a little better after her vet check up and treatment to day, but it is going to be a long 8 weeks.  They took off her wrap today to do the lazer treatment and I got a look at the wound, it looks pretty good, but boy does she have razor burn - I know that must hurt her.  But they told me the lazer treatment will help that heal too. (it turns out the vet actually trimmed her, wow she has burns on the front and back of her little leg)  They say she could have the bandage removed on her next visit if it keeps looking good.  It is just so hard to keep her on floor level and not steps. Lots of bending to pick up her and carry her.  But she seems to be feeling pretty good.

I am going to make a batch of zuchini bread tonight, because, yep, that is coming on in the garden strong too. (I already made a mock apple pie with it.)  I have my second wind because I took a 2 hour nap today with the dogs.  Life is good.

Hope everyones Saturday ends on a good note.

Abby is home, and I am over whelmed,

I felt exactly the same when I got my Lab home after the TPLO surgery.  The sight of the incision alone was shocking and I've seen a lot of post surgical incisions.  Hang in there.  The first two months are hard but it gets easier as you get used to figuring out ways to keep her from jumping, etc.  Naps are always good especially with the dogs. :)

Karen, I feel so proud of Bugsy and of you. I would have given anything to have been there. It sounds like he made a Bugsy sized impression on the others. :)  I know you must have been bursting with happiness to see him doing what he loves.  It is validating on many levels.

I got my hair cut and she did a good job despite talking about her family problems again for the entire time.  I worry sometimes when she's telling me something that is obviously upsetting to her because she starts waving the scissors around.  I hope I don't have any bald spots where I can't see them. lol

I'm checking in late today. I slept in longer than usual. I was really tired all week (left over fatigue from my trip and return to work at a time of big deadlines). I woke up when DH's alarm went off at 4:30 (he recently started taking a yoga class at the crack of dawn on Saturdays). I couldn't fall back to sleep for an hour, but when I did, apparently I fell into a coma!

Jen, sounds like a messy situation with your sister and her newborn. Family dramas can wear one down. Like others said, I hope things work out in the baby's best interest.

Yay for Bugsy's success today! You showed them how it's done, Bugs!

Cathy, I hope the 80th birthday celebration is fun for all, and that the "birthday boy" enjoys it, despite his initial comment! I understand not being as enthused about birthdays as we get older, but as Mark Twain said, having a birthday beats the alternative.

    edited to add paragraph breaks.

    Jen, good news.

Julie, sorry about the allergies.  Mine have been severe this year too and I'm soooo over it.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature isn't.

Glenda, I feel your pain regarding clothes shopping. Unfortunately, there are absolutely NO standards for women's clothes and every manufacturer gets to decide what is meant by "S, M, L & XL". Some companies say 8 is small and others say 0-2 is small and they make 8 a large. Go figure. I still haven't made it to Home Depot, but I got an estimate from a company that puts in artificial grass. "Gulp" To do both the front and back (neither of which is particularly large) it would be $25K if I got the expensive stuff and over $20K for the cheap stuff. Geez. If I had an extra $20K laying around and nothing better to do with it, I don't think that's how I'd spend it. I may just do both yards in some snazzy colored indoor/outdoor carpeting except that would leave Max no place to poop. Joyce
