Last Thursday I brought Alex home a kitten... A 3 month old male orange tabby.. Poor bugger was COVERED in fleas. I was expecting some (the owner had said a few fleas...) but this was just insane.. it's taken 3 baths, multiple combings and D.E but we winning the war! Saving grace is all the other animals were treated with Advantage this month.
Now... Dodger has a major issue when it comes to cats.. They run, he chases; they swipe, he nose punches; ect.. He leaves Kameo alone only because Kameo doesn't care. LOL. He's no fun to torment.. Chili however teases Dodger.. So bringing in a kitten was going to be a major training hurdle..
Because of the fleas, Nigma (kitten) has been only allowed in one room. but now that they're under control, we've been introducing him to the dogs one by one. First was Sandy since she's the calmest (they're now best friends ), next was Bella (work in progress), Maze knows how to act around kittens so no issue there. Dodger has been on a drag line and been learning to lay calmly when Nigma is in the living room for short periods of time. Tonight a friend came and grabbed Nigma for his nightly visit to the living room.. Dodger ran up and slid in to a sit, said hi, then laid down on the floor to watch. Afterwards when it was time for Nigma to go back in the room, Dodger followed (no leash), laid on the bed and almost cuddled with Nigma!!
My boy is learning self control!!!
