Sunny Sunday

    Sunny Sunday

Beautiful day here. Already took the dogs for a bike run and pulled some weeds. Now Iam debating about ggoing to a friends to train or stay home and be more productive. My house could use some dusting and my car could be cleaned out. I could go to the gym and just relax. Or throw all that away and go to friends for dog fun and bbq. Choices are tough!

I think I would go for the dog fun and bbq.

Went to church this morning, had coffee with my secret friend (yep, I couldn't keep it a secret so, now we both know who we are, and it is so much more fun) she is 80 yrs old and she so gets my sense of humor, I can see in her eyes that I make her laugh and relaxed.  That is something I am getting out of knowing her.

We found out that Freida is a howler -  there was a video posted on here of a solider that came home to a very happy dog, and the dog was just talking to him he was so excited.  Well, if we play that video, Freida howls, it is so cute.  I can't wait to see what her DNA comes back as.

Other than that, my day today is going to be a repeat of yesterday.  Why do weekends have to go by so fast?  I might do a load of laundry today, and make pork chops for dinner, but I am going to get back to sewing today.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Weekends should definitely be more fun than work.

I made an early trip to the grocery store and then came home and swept the pool. Have I mentioned what workout that is? I need a shower when I'm done. I'm sure glad DH is home for a few days and can do 2 of the 3 sweepings per day. His back was hurting this morning but he went for a bike ride anyway. He's been gone awhile, so I hope it's because he's having a good ride.

I want something for breakfast but I don't feel like cooking anything. What I'm really craving is hashed browns and lots of them.

I think (hope) we're supposed to get a break in the temps starting tomorrow. It'll be nice to drop below 100 again for awhile.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.

Tracy - how did the progressive party go?

This morning started with a lovely thunderstorm that broke the heat. Yay!

After breakfast, showers, church, and back I am now logging in to work the rest of the day. We may take Little Man to see Despicable Me 2 later this afternoon but he said he would rather play in the sprinkler with the puppies.

    That makes me happy.

Julie, I hope you chose the dog fun and bbq!

Cathy, why are you sweeping the pool?  It does sound like a workout.

Mare, your no longer secret friend sounds like someone I'd enjoy knowing.  The weekends do go by too fast.

I trapped my first feral cat for the shelter this morning. Big SmileThe mobile home park we're targeting right now is overrun with feral cats.  This could take a while and I'm glad I'm not the only one trapping.  This morning when I drove through looking for a good spot to set traps I must have seen fifty cats.  I much prefer working with the dogs at the shelter but I do what's needed most and grumble to myself and you guys.

Time for a little rest and then I need to clean house.

Yay for playing in the sprinkler with the pups!  I wish I could join in!

Sounds like everyone is off to a good start so far today. Glad there are some cooler temps for the hottest of you!

. The progressive dinner went very well. You'd think at nearly 50 years old , I'd learn that things I fret over usually just go fine, but a part of me thinks worrying is part of a successful preparation process.

. Our tapas spread looked lovely and after a tense hour of DH calling out time limits like the Iron Chef judge (12 minutes! 10 minutes!), we were ready for their arrival. They were a fun group, the professional chef complimented everything (sounded sincere!), and they filled their plates multiple times.

We had stroganoff at our friends' house, then dessert at the final house after the guests left. Chatting and eating went til midnight. I slept very late today!

Tomorrow we're supposed to go back to double digits.  It really hasn't felt all that bad to me for the last few days - maybe because I'm remembering what it felt like a couple of weeks ago when it was 110. The last two or three summers have been fairly mild, so I guess we shouldn't be doing too much complaining.

I need to reclean the oven.  It's self cleaning, but it doesn't do a good job on the glass window.  Last time I cleaned it I had DS #2 mix up a batch of his secret potion paste (baking soda and vinegar) to clean the window and then I guess I put the top rack back in one notch too high.  That resulted in setting the inside of the oven (and the food) on fire twice when I had something under the broiler, so now it's all black and yucky again. Tongue Tied This just might be a great day for take-out.

     I'm hot

Walked Beastie early and then settled into watching the golf - great round by the winner Phil Mickelson. It always seems more satisfying when someone wins versus just survives while others crash

Now I am cleaning like a mad woman - thus being hot - and need to run out to the food store

Cathy, why are you sweeping the pool?  It does sound like a workout.
After a new pool plaster or replaster, you have to brush the sides and bottom 2-3 times a day for about 8 days. The plaster is curing and you don't want it to crystallize or it'll be rough and more prone to staining. I enjoyed doing it when we had our other pool put in but it was 1/2 the size of this one. About halfway through the job, I feel like I'm going to keel over. DH set up the weight bench that his mom had brought over but I told him I won't be needing it as long as I'm sweeping the pool.

Met 2 of my neighbors this morning. One woman's daughter was just crowned Miss Oregon and is now headed to the Miss USA pageant. I found a picture of the daughter and she looks just like her mom. Both are very pretty and her mom was super nice. She had her black lab, Sadie, with her and she seemed shy but sweet. The other neighbor had brought his Aussie with him too. She and Shane had played the day DH met him, so it was like old friends meeting up again except she didn't have an off button. Shane was either getting tired or not liking her play style but he started trying to get away from her and that just seemed to amp her up until she was chasing him and he was trying to hide or get away :(. I lost track of the conversation and finally made a comment about his heart and him being done and the owner agreed that they needed to go home. As they left, Shane wanted to go with them - LOL!

Cathy, I thought it must be something to do with the new plaster.  You definitely don't need the weight work out after doing that job every day.   The new neighbors sound nice.  Glad Shane got to play with his friend and that you called a halt when he had had enough.  Naturally, he didn't appreciate it. lol
