    Snowy Saturday chat

Go away snow! Is it too early for a nap? I hardy got any sleep at all last night.

Julie, it is never too early for a nap.

I'm so glad for my Boston area friends that they got the guy last night.

And, my little Luke, I am so happy with him. We decided last night, after he had already warmed up with me in his flyball class, that my friend should really be running him, since he is going with her to the tournament next weekend. Usually, to give him to another handler, we put him in the trainer's van, I leave, and the new handler retrieves him. I handed him off, handed off his treats, and stood there beside him while she worked with him practicing on the box. She then handed him back to me for a bit, and took him again to race. I box loaded for him, and he did not care. He did run back down once, but I think that was just because she didn't grab him quickly, and he would have done that if it had been me not grabbing him quickly. Hopefully he now understands to go to whoever is giving him the hotdogs. This is totally exciting because it means that once I get Callie ready to race, they can run on the same team.

Yep, I agree with Jen on napping.  Never too early.  :)

Congrats to Luke on learning that whoever has the hot dogs is the one to run to. lol  My dogs pretty much live by this code of conduct except Gabby.

I'm so relieved that the second bombing suspect has been caught.  I stayed up past my bedtime watching the news and the press conferences.

I'm meeting a friend for lunch for her birthday.  Hopefully, I am finally going to take the left over medications I have for Twister to the oncologist so she can donate them to someone who is struggling to pay for treatment and meds.  I've been meaning to do this for a long time but haven't for a multitude of reasons.  Last night when I got the big ziploc bag containing the bottles, etc. and put it on the table, I had a meltdown.  I feel I should be handling this better by now.  The friend I'm meeting is the one who lost her dog to bloat not long ago.  I think we need to stay away from the subject or we'll be crying all through lunch.

We're having gorgeous weather this weekend and I hope to get out and enjoy it as much as possible.  Sending vibes to those who are still dealing with the nasty weather.

22 inches of snow fell in Two Harbors, MN. Lake effect, but still snow. Wife and dog are both getting cabin fever. May have to take them both for a run thru the woods. That, or start drinking.

Going to a play tonight at MSU. Legally Blonde. It's a musical.

We are supposed to start opening swimming pools this week. I hate breaking through ice to remove the plugs. The joy of reaching into water at 34º. I had to use the snow blower for the third last time of the season yesterday. Chunks thrown up by the snow plow took out a shear pin. I could have just waited a couple of days, but I didn't think the truck would climb back into the garage thru the snow.

    (((Jackie))) I completely understand.

I'm so glad they caught the 2nd bomber and I hope the folks in Boston can finally start to heal.

I might meet with some friends this afternoon to discuss opening a shelter pet shop in a mall nearby. It's a great concept but getting the space will be a challenge.

DH has been on vacation for way tooooo long. Help me! :/

     ((Jackie))

I'm a fan of naps whenever I can get them!  I'm on call this weekend and got a page to talk to someone looking for services.  She was such a funny lady and it totally made my morning chatting with her.  Hopefully, those are the only kinds of pages I get this weekend!

Speaking of naps, I think I might go indulge in one myself.  I'm pretty sure the significant other is napping upstairs lol. Ari is napping on the smaller couch.  Yeah, we're all pretty lazy in this house today Stick out tongue

    Cleaning break:

I'm so impressed with the law enforcement agencies that worked together to take these guys down. Crazy how the relative is saying it was all a set up and those buys were angels. Yeah, angels strap bombs on their bodies and have shoot outs with police.

I don't know what my problem was last night but as soon as I went to bed I started seriously stressing about work. I wasn't stressed when I left the office either. But the entire week came crushing down on me last night and I tossed and turned and even dreamt about work when I did sleep. Bleh. Work doesn't stress me very often so this caught me off guard. I need to get some exercise today for some stress relief. I think I am going to tell my nieces to bring their swim suits and they can swim while I have a work out.

Btw it is a lot of work to take 3 36" crates plus gear out of an escape, clean it out and put the seats back in. Just in case anyone was thinking of doing this in the future :p it will be just as much work tomorrow when I do the entire process in reverse. Looking forward to that!

    Ok back to cleaning!

Hey all, looks like I missed some birthdays yesterday

Happy belated birthday Tina and Kate

beautiful day in NWA   planning on working outside as soon as it warms up a bit.

We were going to go to an auction today but found nothing we couldnt live without and decided we needed an auction intervention ourselves, lol.

Good news about your mom Callie.  Hope her recovery comes along well

((Jackie))  this was hard for me when I took Shadows meds back but it did help.

Enjoy your lunch and your friends company

Doug, sounds like drinks are in order --- something like hot toddies or cocoa with peppermint schnapps.  That will warm you up!

    Way to go, Luke!

We watched lots and lots of Boston news coverage last night, too.  When they lifted the lockdown/shelter-in-place ban, DH texted my sister to see if she was going out.  She was already on her way to her friend's down the street.  As she said, "Party in Boston!"

Jackie, I think it's entirely understandable to still have meltdowns -- it hasn't been that long since you lost Twister, as far as I'm concerned.  There have been a few times when I've lost it over Tonka even a few years later -- you never know might what trigger it.  I'm glad you and your friend can provide companionship to each other for lunch, but yes, you may need to stay clear of the topic of grief.

Cathy, at first I misunderstood your sentence about your DH being on vacation.  I thought you meant he was out-of-town on vacation for too long and you missed him.  I thought, "Wow, that's really sweet!"  Then I realized you meant he was at home on vacation and under your feet too long, right?  Now, THAT I can relate to!  Big Smile

I'm off for a walk with my friend.  Lots of threatening rain clouds out there.  I'll have to dress accordingly.

Julie, there should be a law against snow this late in April. We're enjoying a nice,  balmy 72 but the darn wind is blowing again and that makes it hard to do anything outside. I woke up this morning to the sound of the flap on the doggy door opening and closing and at first wondered "why is that crazy dog running in and out every couple of minutes? ... he was asleep on the bed.  The wind was just blowing the flap. Smile

Doug, crazy question here, but why would people be even thinking about opening a swimming pool when it's that cold? Do they actually swim in that kind of weather?

Took Dodger to the park today.. He's finally figured out that when a dog is wearing a certain kind of harness he can't say Hi.. We ran in to a seeing eye dog and Dodge made the decision not to run up to them Big Smile Normally he throws a screaming fit when he can't meet another dog. LOL

It's so warm here that I gave Maze and Dipstick a bath then threw them outside to dry.. Hehehe..

OH! And it's Kameo's 14th birthday today. My fat old cat is getting older.

15000 lake in Minnesota. You throw a rock, you hear "kerplush". Every hotel has pools, every casino has pools. Indoor water parks. I still don't know why people plunk down 40 to 50 thousand dollars up front for the privilege of spending more money on chemicals and maintenance. But, we fish year round, golf year round, play baseball year round, and cut hole in lakes for swimming. Granted, it take a big hole to troll for walleye.

     Happily no snow here!

(((((Jackie)))) you know you will be 'better' about your loss when you are. Period.

We had fabulous weather for the dog walk. Bugsy did great as always and was sooo happy to be out and about. His day got even better when we met up with some friends and their oversized SPCA mutt who is a buddy of B's. As predicted he galloped through the senior/disabled walk and was first by a mile - he is so predictable! As we were heading towards the finish we heard a voice from above, "Is that Bugsy? Karen what happened?" It was the SPCA mc who was on a cherry picker type thing. Anyway we hung out afterward to have a few beers - hey all proceeds go to the SPCA - and then went to one of our normal hangouts with the friends I mentioned. All the outdoor eateries were full of SPCA walkers and dogs Big Smile

    FUN day!

other than that I've done laundry, food shopping and basic straightening up. I will need to spend a lot of time tomorrow in the yard. We had massive storms last night and every drop of water was soaked up by early this morning. Weeds and plants are taller tonight than this morning

Oh yeah - he's been home forEVER it seems. I keep thinking "how can I miss you, if you won't ever leave?" ;)

I did some shopping and managed to find a new purse I like for a good price. I have a lot of trouble finding a purse I like the looks of, the price of and one that fits all my needs in terms of size and pockets. I feel good to have finally found something that was perfect in every aspect.

I tried on this very casual but cute shirt and loved it and was taking it off thinking I'd buy it and then saw the price tag. $49.99 for a casual top? I don't think so! I can't believe I hadn't noticed the price before and I'd have never even tried it on :(.
