Fingers crossed - today I connected two people who make a difference for animals in this area. I have a feeling something really great will come of this.

Karen, at first I thought you meant you were serving as a romantic match-maker, but then I realized you probably meant that your hope is that this will be a partnership that benefits animal welfare causes, such as fundraising or a service coalition or something like that, right? Smile

I should probably get a new camera. We have a basic compact digital that's about 10 years old. It's horrible for indoor shots and not too much better outdoors! I couldn't use something other than the most simple point-and-shoot type, so I can't get the high-quality photos that many of you share. But surely a newer simple model would perform better than our antiquated thing!

Deb says she's waiting impatiently to see what drink we're having later at the Tiki Bar. She didn't really say that but I know she's thinking it. lol She's doing ok and hanging in there. They don't run their generator at night because dirty rotten thieves are stealing them.

Jamison is stressed and she's going to get him some Valerian root to try and keep him calmer.

That mad face emoticon is supposed to be next to the sentence about the thieves not about sweet Jamison being stressed. I tried to edit it but didn't see any changes.

Correct!

Very long story made shorter : a young woman that moved here from CA in Feb has a long drive to her workplace through rural NC daily. Since moving here in Feb. she has rescued 10 dogs (keeping one) and is thoroughly overwhelmed by animal welfare in one particular county.

So when she mentioned at lunch today that she was a) overwhelmed and b) trying to think of a way to do something on a larger scale I immediately thought that she needed to meet the Exec Director of our SPCA who I consider a friend.

After leaving lunch I had errands to run and found myself not too far away from the SPCA so I popped in, was able to meet with the director, set a meet-up for them (and me!) and wound up chatting for 1.5 hrs!! This county has an awful situation so anything will be an improvement and I have total faith that our SPCA has the brains, heart, money and influence to do something. Really excited to see where this ends up

Awesome! As a long-time volunteer at our local shelter, having served on the board and many committees, I know these types of things are really exciting. You never know what one connection will lead to . . . and partnerships between various individuals, businesses, and/or organizations can result in incredibly successful activities. Joining forces can bring valuable services to areas where the need is great but resources are scarce. Well done -- and keep us posted!

Aussie Powers

Ingredients:

1.8 cl	Gold Rum
1.8 cl	Kiwi liqueur
3.6 cl	Grapefruit juice
3.6 cl	Energy Drink

Mixture:

1. Pour Rum, Kiwi and grapefruit juice into a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
3. Complete with the energy drink.
4. Garnish with a half orange slice and a half moon lemon slice.
5. Serve.

(only drink I could find that had to do with POWER!) Stick out tongue
