Sharon, Happy Birthday to your SO.Cake  My DH is impossible to buy for since he buys for himself all year long. Sad Why do women get branded as  shopaholics?  He buys way more stuff for himself than I do and most of my women friends say the same about their men.  I hope you enjoy dinner at the new place.  :)

My DH is the worst too. He loves buying from EBay and Amazon too, so it's almost instant gratification.

I hope you have a very nice dinner Sharon. That's kind of a gift for both of you, so not a bad deal at all.

I gave Shane a new brand of bully stick and almost had to give him a bath aftewards. Yuck, what a mess!!

I feel evil for saying this but I'm not in the mood for trick or treators. I feel blah and tired and jumping up and down to answer the door doesn't sound fun. I've felt this way before and perked up when I saw some cutey pies, so hopefully that'll be the case. Or it will start pouring rain before then Stick out tongue

LOL Cathy, me too!  The only reason I do it nowadays is that my 3 grandkids come over and go around my neighborhood!  So up went a few decorations and out came the candy...

I am soooooooooooooo with you - I plan on doing 6-8 and that is that. Add in that Bugsy has been so insane again lately it will be a test of my patience to listen to him whine and try to keep him half reasonable. The problem is that so many kids know him now and want to say hi but he gets sooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited and is so darn quick. I'll put the gate up and block access to the front door but it will still try my patience. I have to remember not to laugh at his antics - even though it is really funny

OK so I texted my mom a bit today - keep in mind she's 72 now - they are without power likely for 7 days or more so I encouraged her to at least go to a cousin's place which has power. I want her to at least warm up as even if the temps haven't been too low, its damp and cold and her house is always cold. Her final text was "stop worrying I am fine!" LOL tough old broads run in my family!

As an official member of that club myself....lol.....that's the way we are and always will be.  At least it is an option that she can take if she feels the need...or after enough time has passed since you suggested it so it can be her idea :)  You are a good daughter.

I bet Bugsy loves Halloween...looky Mom all da kids come see me!

LOL Karen - at least she knows you care.

Shane will be a handful too. Sassy loved to great the kids but she wasn't vocal when the doorbell rang, so it was fun. Shane roo-roo-roos like crazy but hopefully will calm down after the first few or I'll just drink enough wine so I don't care Big Smile.

My husband is a member of the "I buy things I want when I want them" club, too.  I rarely buy him gifts (or we use house-related purchases as our mutual gifts -- like this year's new carpeting).  If he wants something, he gets it, and he'd never think of waiting until it went on sale.  And, in many cases, he has to have "the best" of something, when other less expensive brands would be just as good, if not better.  Example:  he has to have Filson wool shirts, no other wool or flannel shirt will do.  I could buy 5 shirts/blouses for what he pays for 1 of those, but I am a true bargain hunter.

I think your dinner out to celebrate, Sharon, is a very suitable "gift" for each other.  That's what we do for birthdays and anniversaries.  Not cooking is a big gift for me!

I'm not in the candy-giving mood either, but we'll try it tonight to see how Ruby is.  We pretended we weren't home last year, but this year she may be calmer.  If not, we'll abandon it and turn off all the lights.  It's been pouring rain most of the day, so I bet we have few kids.  On dry Halloweens, we've had dozens of kids -- they get dropped off in van-pools (I'm not kidding).

Karen, your Mom sounds like my Mom.  Last year when they lost power for 5-6 days from the snow storm, she toughed it out with her neighbors just fine -- they shared snacks and newspapers and conversation in one apartment to pass the time.  It must be that hardy New England/Northeastern stock!

It looks like power is starting to come on to some people around me. We web out earlier, as when we came back, some more stuff was on and open. My friend's power just came back on. There are still a lot of people out though.

In other news, someone from one of my meetup groups was arrested. He was running a pet sitting business. Apparently, he was stealing from people when he was in their houses, and pawning their stuff. He had Luke once or twice, but at his house. I stopped using him because the whole thing just seemed off to me. He always had way too many in house for one person to handle. He also adopted another dog with aggressive tendencies. It was always fine with Luke, but it went after other dogs in the group. We only know about people from the group he stole from. He also watched other dogs.
