    Halloween Party.

Saturday night our tow sons and I had a Halloween party for my grandkids and the kids on our street.  That afternoon my sons came over and set up the Haunted House on patio and in back yard.  Used large sheets of black plastic to make "rooms" in patio and have scarey things in each room.  I guide the kids theru the Haunted House and they have to escape thru a tunnel (row of applicanced boxes taped together with strings hanging to drag their face, stuff animals, etc in them) and then youngest son meets them on other side and guide them safely thru the graveyard.  In the gave yard13 year old grandson wasbeing stalked by a zombie (9 year old grandaughter.) Had other screy noise acitvated things around in the yard.  Randy woudlguide the kids to the side of the house and they wre to go on down and out the opengate, then into the grage thru the open doorand into the kitchen.  However, older son was waiting on the outside of the gate to give them one last scare.  One little girl, her first time at one of our partiesdeclared thehaunted house "the most awesomehauntedhouse ever."

We startedthe party at 6:30 giving them hot dogs )or chili dogs if thei wanted), chips and punch.  then they each had a turn thru the Haunted House, and then we played games for prizes, and then had the goodies.  I had fixed a Halloween bucket of stuff for each kid--put in an Halloween activity book, Halloween pencil and eraser, some halloween spooky stuff (spider rings, giant bugs, skull, etc, some cady, a $1 bill and had made sugar cookies decorated with orange, yellow A& brown sprinkles and peanut butter cookies decorated with orange, yellow & brown Reeses Pieces.  Had filled up quart zipper bags with those dookies and put them in ech bucket.  We buy the przes at Dollar tree and I get several extra.  Any kid that does nto win a prize playing games gets to pick one before theyleave.

afew picture---I hope.  Thefirst should be part of the graveyard when set up that afternoon, so nothing is lit up.  Note the skeleton coming otu of coffin--i made that coffin out of a large cardboadboxthat i spry painted.  at night all the"props" lit up.

The party was not til 6"30, but some kids were here before 6:00.  One dad down the street said his wanted to get their costumes on at 10?00 that morning. This was taken in front yard wh3er I have my display graveyard, orange lights, etc.  Kids ere not allowed in the house til 6:30.

My "zombie" granddaughter.  She practised walking and acting like a zombie--was her idea to be a zombie in the graveyard getting after her cousin.

Spider treats I made using chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, butter, peanutbutter, cocoa krispies, with chow mein noodles for legs and red candies for eyes.

Ghost pops I made.  Use finely crumbled cake mixes with some canned frosting, mix and shape, chill.  Melt candy coating  (i used the white bark) and when ghosts heads are chilled, dip thin popcicle sticks into the melted candy coating and insert in into the bottom of the ghost head and chill a little hile.  Then takeghosts out one at a time and coat with the candy coating and insdert the pop stick into a styrofoam block ( I acutally used a circule ring) until set and then use black gell or black decorater icing iped on to make faces, and return to fride.

Table of goodies.--irefilled each thing as need.  Have mini cupcakes decorated with the orange, bornw and yellow sprinkles, the spiders, the ghost pops, pumpkin spice cookies, individual halloween mold formed jello jigglers,  andworms in dirt.  Made them by making chocolate pudding and filling those little plastci bathroom cups about 3/4 full of pudding, inserted a gummy sorm so that it hung over the side, put whipped topping on the puddine and them covered with crumbled chocolate cookies.

WOW you must be the most famous person in the whole neighborhood!  What a lot of work, but so many smiles (and screams ha haa) and so much fun with the children.  Very impressive.  Do you worry "what can we do to "top" this?"  Or maybe not, lol.  Great fun, good job, well done, and now I am sure you need a rest!

Wow Sandra that is wonderful.   I am sure all the kids look forward to the fun.  I know I would.  We dont have any kids in our little rural community they all grew up so now we have only old people, lol!

Why didn't I have neighbors like you when I was growing up?!  How cool -- you must be the most popular grandmother and neighbor in town!  I can't believe all the work you went to with the clever treats and creative decorations, especially so soon in your recovery.  I wish I had that kind of energy.  We don't even have a pumpkin on our front step!

    Looks like a great party!
