    Sunday chat

Is anyone here in the path of the hurricane? If so, stay safe! So exhausted, but at least I got about 6 hrs of sleep. At 8 this morning I was laying in bed, the room is still dark and most people are still sleeping. All of a sudden my phone rings for a text. You usually don't get textx this early so I immediately think oh crap, it is dog related (neiko and lily are at home and abbie is downstairs in a crate in our lodge). So the text is from a friend sharing my room and she is not in the room. It says "is the dog lost?" I jump up like wth! Is abbie not in her crate?! So, I text her back and she doesn't answer. I jump out of bed and race downstairs to check on abbie. She is in her crate thank god but my friend is no where to be found so I am totally befuddled. Turns out, she sent that text yesterday afternoon asking about one of our dog teams that I was working with but the text just came thru this morning. Sheesh. What a way to wake up. Anyway, yesterday abbie worked her first underwater cadaver. She did great and on her indication she dove into the water each time putting her head under then looking back at me, it was amusing. She is so expressive. Today we have a bit more training then have to load the cars (such an ordeal) and clean. Bleh. I will be happy to get home to my other fur dogs though.

    Good job Abbie.  :)

I've got to get moving but I'm so sleepy.  I kept waking up every hour or so and thinking it was time to get up for work.  ugh  Now I just want to go back to bed.  DH is working for a little while today and I should take this opportunity to be super productive but don't think that's going to happen.

I need to hit the grocery store for a few things and go see my cousin in the nursing home.  Then the usual house cleaning chores and finish the laundry.  Exciting, eh? lol

I have a gigantic morning glory vine and it has exploded with flowers. Big Smile I love morning glories.  I think I'll grab another cup of coffee and go sit outside for a little while longer and watch the dogs play and enjoy my flowers.

Good job Abbie!  Sorry you had such a scare, Julie.

I think darned near everyone on the East Coast is in the path of Sandy in one way or another.  I routinely keep a good supply of batteries, candles, and basic supplies so we should be fine.  Keeping the power, and along with it internet and phone service are the biggies I'm concerned about.  We're way Western MA, within minutes of the NY state border, but parts of the county got pretty massive damage from TS Irene last year.

But, we've got folks like Deb and Kate who are very coastal.  And I'm sure others that my tired brain isn't registering.  Hoping they can stay safe AND in touch.

Jackie, that happens to me too and it really burns my fanny!  Yesterday when I woke up at 5, I actually GOT up, started the coffee and was mid-stream when I realized that it was SATURDAY! Duh!  But, waking throughout the night, even for a few seconds, certainly doesn't help with a good nights rest.

Off to make sure I didn't miss any hatches that need battening!

Yikes Julie, that's a horrible way to wake up. Way to go Abbie!!!

I slept the entire night without even having to get up to use the bathroom. Shane seemed to want to sleep even longer. He's such a great sleep buddy. Angel

DH's BIL is out here from New Jersey and due to fly back on Tuesday morning. I'm betting he's working on getting an earlier flight and I hope he's able to.

I got most of my cleaning done yesterday but still need to get a few things done and then head out to the picnic at HB. It's going to be a perfect day to be outside and I'm excited for Shane to get to play with some other dogs. I'm meeting DH's mom and family members for her birthday dinner tonight at a steak place, so that should be fun.

The generator is up and running. It's a new one--with a remote control start! Plywood is on the two big front windows. Water is drawn and stored. Sinbad is very confused and Mozey does not like all the activity. They did love their beef heart treat though! The rest is all cooked and frozed. Now, it's time for some football--go Pats!

I'm not coastal, but in the path. We should have lots of downed trees and river and stream flooding to make life fun for a few days. Schools are already canceling tomorrow and Tuesday.

We were told to cancel work for Monday and Tuesday. I assume the one other client I have should know I am not coming, but I guess I will call tomorrow morning and confirm that. Hopefully Wednesday is okay because I need paperwork signed so I can send it in to get paid.

I've still got the hairball cough thing going on. I finally decided this afternoon, I was eating a bunch of crap. I went till about 4 on just a few cookies a piece of beef jerky, and I really didn't think I was starving until I picked up my pizza. I figured cold pizza would be fine when the power goes out. Apparently, my dad did too, because he also got a pizza.  I had to explain to him though that he might want to put it in the fridge, not the freezer. If the power goes out, or actually, when the power goes out, we can't reheat the pizza. Cold from the fridge, we can eat. From the freezer, it may take a while and not taste too great.
